"One of them has to go to Carolina at #1" Mayock on QBs

Well if another team thinks one of these QB's is that good, then why shouldn't the Panthers? They all have the same information.

But they are all in different situations and some people can afford to have a project at QB when other teams can't

Please think before you post

LOL, like we're in a position where a project QB will be such a huge burden. Yeah, we're one player away from the Superbowl, woo hoo!

I don't think we're that far away and neither do our players. If you think our whole team sucks then you can make the argument for Cam or Gabbert but I don't think that's the case

So if we go the route that you and Mr Scot perfer, which is to draft defense, and bring in a veteran QB, you believe we will be play off bound in 2011?

I would love to believe that, but I don't. IMO, this draft is for the future, not for 2011. That's why I don't mind drafting a QB who may have to sit for a year...regardless of who he is. This instant gratification business just doesn't work for me in this situation.

Playoff bound next year? Not me :nonod:

Better off for next year and the long run? Yep.

Right.

Because turning down this year's "sexy" prospect for a veteran and waiting for someone who the team believes can actually be a Franchise QB is clearly "instant gratification."

How is signing a veteran QB going to make us better in the long run, when chances are, he will be an older vet who is not that good to begin with and will have to be replaced within two years anyway?

Also, why can't we do both? If Cam is such a big project, then sign a veteran and let Cam sit for a year...long term problem solved. All of these other QB's on the roster are expendable anyway, unless either Moore or JC surprises us all.

Giving up on a QB after only one season, especially a mess like last year's was, is not smart.

And if we get a veteran, what's the point of using that top pick on a project QB when we already have two?

Much better to use it to shore up another area of weakness. QB is far from the only one.

So you don't want to draft a QB because you believe JC is the guy? I'm trying to understand your logic here.

I believe you don't back up a question mark by picking up another one.

Is Clausen a franchise QB? Doubt it, but when Rivera says last year wasn't a fair test, he's right.

Youth, we have. What we need is experience.

Fine...who is this experienced veteran QB who is gonna make this team better for the long haule then. Unless we somehow can get the Bengals to stop being so damn hard headed and trade Palmer, then there is no one.

It's funny though...none of this was a problem when everybody thought that Luck was the pick. I doubt he would have gotten us to the promise land as a rookie either though.

Best options: Palmer or Garrard. Fallback: Volek, maybe Bulger. Go looking for the franchise guy again next year (assuming some of our other needs have been shorn up).

Luck wouldn't have gotten us to the promised land this season either, but he was someone you couldn't pass up. No one else in this draft is on that level.
