Mecahnics = Veteran?

:yesnod:

Mecahnics = assassins!!

Well, if you beleive the stories, then sort of. I mean this guy came off as Mack Bolan and I and a few other friends bought it. Turns out he was a Nurse in a hospital. Great access to bang up stories from guys who were in the field.

I'd give it a week and see how I feel then.

That's a good idea. I am getting some flack from the community for either not defending him or for still sitting on the fence, so far. The community is strong but we went through a similar situation with a former 1SG of mine who wrote books and now is a consultant for a TV show.

But now it feels a whole lot more personal.

Thanks all for the advice. I just wanted to make sure I was not missing something. I have tried to talk to the guy but he stands his ground and denies but still changes his story every time.

I just found out that he got a copy of a couple of my documents and had them altered. I feel sorta raped when I think about it.

Here is the really sucky part, he is claiming 100% disability for PTSD but a VA nurse found out the documents were forged. He is trying to sue her now.

Those benefite are for real PTSD cases. We need to take care of our Vets first and not scam artists.

I will give it a week and if I don't wnat to deal with it, I am just gonna walk away....

I think you should burn him down.

You are the most forgiving guy I e-know when it comes to this stuff my friend.

At that other site you and I have discussed, you know exactly where this would go.

Salem Witch time.

This isn't just stolen valor, this is pity party THEN profiteering from the blood spilled by you and your brothers.

That isn't a friend anymore. That is a thief. An honor thief and the more conventional thief, plus a stab in the back on the way out.

As I stated, you are a kind soul. I can't even begin to put myself in your place on this one...but right now I feel angry for you. Very angry.

While I was reading your post an episode Andy Griffith popped in my head. I'm not comparing your story to a sitcom but it does have a lot of similarities the way you described it.

The show was about Goober who tries to impress an old mechanics' school friend by treating him to a lavish dinner then feeling inferior because of owning just one gas station after his friend in high school boast about being wealthy, claiming to own a chain of gas stations.

The friend really stretches the truth making himself out to be way much better off than he really is. Goober feels like he hasn't accomplished much with his life after the dinner.

While on the way home Andy & Goober stop in at a small gas station and Andy sees the mechanic friend in the garage sweeping floors & taking orders from the real mechanics, he calls Goober over to take a look. Goober decides not to confront him in fear that it might embarrass his friend by exposing him as a fraud.

Never saw that but metaphorically, yes it does fit, LMAO. Rep.

If any of you want to see the skinny, PM me and I will forward you the situation as it is unfolding.

What's really funny is the guy used to refer to Regular Army as doing "Gomer Pyle stuff."

Too creepy....

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
