Gabbert question

Jackofalltrades

Yeah, the biggest problems I've seen are his pocket presence and his low TD per attempt ratio. I've questioned his toughness before but scouts seem to think it's just bad footwork, which he can work on. The 2nd problem was pretty big for me. If you look at the good QB's in the NFL right now, they all had around a 15 passes per TD ratio. Even the ones who struggled in this are still got around 20 passes per TD. Gabbert got a TD once every 30 passes this year, and once every 47 passes against top competition. That's really really bad. The thing is though, he didn't have this problem last year. His stats in this respect were good. I suspect it's because he's had less weapons to work with this year. I don't think he has any big name receivers to throw to. I think that's a reasonable excuse. I'm really starting to like the guy.

THe other reason that he might have had more difficulty this year versus last is the same reason many quarterbacks in their rookie year in the NFl struggle their 2nd year. Teams have film on them and know what to expect and how to defend them. In fact the same thing happened from the beginning to the end of this year. After going 7-0 early other teams figured out their spread and shut them down for the most part. Given the real concern about poor pocket presence, there is also enough to be concerned about.

Gonna guess the other is Chase Daniel.

Not a big Gabbert fan, but I can tell you there's more to it than just stats.

Winner winner chicken dinner. Gabbert has the size and arm strenght, and the hope is that he will improve into a good starting QB in the NFL. He didn't look good in college, especially against halfway decent competition. But he seems to be valued by scouts, so he's doing something right.
