I disagree in general and in specific to this film Id say that there was enough story to hold the action sequences together. I'm sure I don't have to explain it all and that you're just making a point so I wont insult your intelligence by doing so.

Does the story have holes? Sure it does. But its my contention that it's ok for this kind of film. We should even expect it to some degree.

Its all good. I dont think less of anyone who liked the move or anything. For me it just didnt work. I am hard to please though, when it comes to movies. I dont like just anything.

Having talked to a great many people about this movie at this point I think the like/dislike breaks along the line of people who cant enjoy a movie that doesn't have a pretty tight story complete with subtexts and meaning.

This doesn't. The story is little more than a framework to hang the pretty imagery on. Thats not to say that there is no story or plot, just that you have to be willing to suspend disbelief and not worry too much about the occasional (or liberal) use of deus ex machina.

If you want serious cinema I'm sure Black Swan or The Kings English is still playing somewhere. If you want two hours of escapist entertainment then Sucker Punch has that in spades.

that is what I was trying to express to people who haven't seen the movie. The people who saw it before others could cause "the hangover" effect and build it up too much.

And like you said, people have to go with the flow and let the movie unfold. those who are unable to do so will hate it.

Saw it last night. Loved it. Pretty badass.

The guy I saw it with said that he thought it was more of a chick movie....I didnt think so but then again Im a chick. Loved the girls in it, loved the eye makeup, and loved the whole concept of the movie.

The story is sad, but the way they portray it is pretty damn cool, never seen anything like it before.

There are 2 aspects of this movie.. They stuck a somewhat heavy message in with what most people expected to be another shallow fight movie. People who expected a shallow movie with a less than an ambiguous story line most likely will hate it. Throw in that there are a lot of make up scenes and the average hulk is going to scream cooties.

It's a cross between "One who flew over the cuckoo's nest" with hotties and filmed like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", with a plot that just didn't command my attention. Sorry. If this had been a movie with ugly chicks it would've sucked immensely

I would compare it most to Vanilla Sky.. with a lot of fighting.
