For those unfamiliar, Chuck Bednarik was a beast in his day. When NFL Films did it's video compilation of the 100 greatest hits of all time, the number one spot belonged to a shot Bednarik put on Frank Gifford.

Also, the annual award given by the Maxwell Club for the best defensive player in the country is named "The Bednarik Award".

Older Eagle fans hold the name in high regard.
