The best thing too do for the QB position is still bring in a VET.

You call that a high level?

Holy ***. Moore is better than Bulger and it's probably not close. If you want just a mentor, Bulger might be the guy but if you want someone to "play at a high level", which was your request, Bulger is not that guy.

First Off, do you understand what a stop gap is? If not, it is the guy that can come in to the organization play at a HIGHER level than the Panthers fans have seen in the last 3 years while waiting and/or teaching Jimmy Clausen, Matt Moore, Tony Pike, or a drafted QB what it is like to be an NFL QB.

In response to your previous post if Moore is better than Bulger and/or if he was playing at a high level we wouldn't be in the position we are now would we?

Moore's TD to Int ratio of 16 to 17 is far superior to Bulger's 126 to 98. On top of that Bulger also has 3 games of playoff experience something the Panthers veteran QB definitely needs to have. Not to mention the guy has also been in the Pro Bowl before. Bulger has more experience in his left nut than all of our QB's combined and thats what the Panthers need to be looking for right now.

Get your facts straight then come back and talk to me.

Counting things Bulger did nearly a decade ago doesn't really help your cause. Lately he's been average to terrible and there are younger options out there that have a chance to grow into something here in Carolina.

If we're going to bring someone in that can't play anymore, there are better options than Bulger, just saying.

The thing is, with a veteran QB; your not trying to solve the problem completely you are trying to keep it from ever happening again that way the next time we need to draft a QB maybe Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen can teach them the ropes after learning from a vet. However, neither of them had that tool and had to go into the league cold turkey last year. The Panthers will still need a QB but signing a vet would allow them to pass on a QB such as Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert, or Ryan Mallet this year and wait to see if they could possibly snag Andrew Luck, Bryant Moniz, Dan Persa, Terrelle Pryor, Landry Jones, Dominique Davis, Brandon Weeden, G.J. Kinne, Kyle Padron, Ryan Lindley, Corey Robinson, Nick Foles, Robert Griffin III (knows David Gettis pretty well), Kirk Cousins or any other QB in what looks like a better selection of QB's in the 2012 draft. The Panthers won't be able to turn from a very poor team into a Super Bowl contender in one year but bringing in a vet for a few years can easily make that goal attainable in the next three to five years as well as finding the Panthers a player they desperatley need in the Draft or through Moore and Clause, which is a Franchise QB

It wasn't just who is old, it was who could still play at a high level.

Bulger is debatable, Volek has never done it consistently, Collins is debatable in terms of mentor and ability, Pennington might never be able to throw a football again, and Hasselbeck doesn't seem like he wants to help anyone and already said he wants to go to a winning team.

Next batch please

We are looking for 2 different things. I'm looking for a part time starter who will compete for the job but eventually hand the reins too the young guy. You must want a full time starter which will cost full time money.

I some what agree with you ( The Pryor poo is a horrible idea). My thing is even if you draft a QB this year it would be nice too have a Bulger or Collins. For help on the sideline and film room.

TRD doesn't see that being around Vinny not only help Matt Moore but the whole offense. Flacco gave Bulger credit for helping him. Matt Ryan has given credit too Chris Redman. A rodgers had Farve and you can't blame Collins for VY. VY is mental midget with a self confidence issues. Having a vet with game exp. can help a young QB.

I hate too say this but Jake would be a perfect mentor for us.

I guess my question would be why bring in a vet that is worse than a young guy that we could bring in?

Usually you bring in a vet if they are still better than what you have currently but only can do it for a little while. Bulger isn't better than what we have and if you want to bring in someone who won't play and just mentor, there are better options than Bulger.
