People afraid of drafting Cam Newton

Panthro

Trent Dilfer said in an ESPN radio interview that he thinks Andy Dalton should be a first round pick.

Taking him at #1 would sure be gutsy, now wouldn't it?

make sense....

I mean, Dilfer is the guy who said the Rams made a HUGE mistake taking Bradford over Clausen.

theres not a clear cut #1 in this draft or there wouldn't be such huge variance... so it is no surprise that experts are all over the spectrum on these guys.

the idea that someone willing to pass on Cam Newton is doing it out of fear is silly. I just think we could be a better team with a different player than him... because I do not consider the #1 pick our only way to upgrade a position.

At this point I hope we draft Cam just to piss off half the board that hates him.

Oh for cryin' out loud

Nobody hates him. They just don't think he's the right choice.

That doesn't require hate, just a different point of view.

Sheesh :nonod:

Do you hate all the other guys you don't wanna see picked first?

Great reasoning for a draft pick that will affect our franchise for the next several years!

The ins and outs about Newton have been said over 100 times. I'm going with shock value. Half the board hated delhomme and he did alright.

We would be bypassing a ton of great talent to reach for a QB

at #1. There are none that are worth that pick but there are plenty

future pro-bowlers available to us at that pick. And to pass on them

would be just plain stupid. Do you want a guy with a police record

as the "face" of our ball club?? I don't. We could've had Vick if we

wanted and Vick is better then Newton. If we get a QB forget Newton.

Get Gabbert he will be a far better fit in the NFL.

...and people that take foolish chances don't even make it to middle management, they're living in a van down by the river.

really where is your statistic for this or are you just pulling an assumption out of your ass because Panthro's post struck a chord and you're really feeling it

Man, save yourself the stress. Those who want to take so-called "risks" are those without reasoning. It's either agree with them or be against them. Only a few guys on here actually hate him, most of us wanting other options just dont think he is the #1 talent in this draft.

I want a QB I can be proud of, I want someone my son can look up to. I want someone who commands the respect of their teammates, someone who can be trusted in and off the field. I want a QB who does NOT have a history of terrible and criminal decision making.

Didn't you just say the other day that what's wrong with our society is that we look up to football players and not soldiers? Obviously we have different life perspectives, but I don't really care what children think of my team's QB.

Also, what is this "history of terrible and criminal decision making" you're referring to? He got in minor trouble for buying a stolen laptop in college, not raping orphans and setting up Ponzi schemes for Japanese tsunami victims.
