John Fox on Armanti Edwards....

Yeah 4 others just like I posted. You quoted me to soon.

So as long as we ignore the RBs and Steve Smith and the years of great offensive output and focus on Jake Delhomme who was a stud but was traded for...yeah good point.

Good Lord

lol yeah you just cling to Williams, Stewart, and Smith like a liferaft. Honestly if I was in your shoes I'd be going off about the offensive line right about now instead of clinging to three skill position guys.

I mean you did watch the Panthers in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010 right? Also Jake Delhomme was never a "stud". He was a solid quarterback with a propensity for pulling unlikely victories out of his ass for two or three seasons, tops.

only 4 good years of "great offensive output" out of 9, with one of those years without a running game and another without a passing game. 1 of those years without a winning record (so you can drop that to 3 if you wanted to). Only 2 years of balance.

Most guys don't look good when they go through a rookie season without much help from their coaches (which is what Panther insiders would tell you happened with Edwards).

:yesnod:

I'd expect him to say something more diplomatic, especially coming from someone who made an entire career of using a lot of words and never said anything meaningful. How about "we saw something in AE and I'm sure Carolina is still excited about his potential"? How hard is that?

All this does is further hurt the confidence of a kid who's struggling to make a team he himself brought in. Total dick move.

Agree completely. He had no business making that comment. Makes me pull for AE to make it even more.

John Fox: "Me and my offensive staff spent 3 seasons failing to replace Muhsin Muhammad before simply bringing him back because we didn't know poo else that we could do. Oh btw, you know this tweener WR, yea he's likely to fail. Bank on this pick being a bust"

you guys really arguing whether Fox was a good offensive minded coach? where in the hell is the argument, he sucked ass at offense. He played it safe, by the book, live by the sword die by the sword. There was no progression or innovation. Why do you think he requires a QB with intangibles? Why do you think he liked Jake so much? Because he didn't know poo about developing a young one. Why do you think he needs vets? Because he is not innovative. It worked for a couple years, but Fox is a run first coach, I would hardly call any of it successful in terms of innovation or above all balance. Maybe 1 or 2 (a stretch) out of a 9 year career but that is not good.

John Fox had never developed dick on the offensive side of the ball his entire career here. He gets shellacked when his teams can't physically dominate opponents-see the opener against the Eagles in 2009. He ran the most rudimentary offense in the league and watching him try to call a game when forced him out of his comfort zone was like watching my grandma, God rest her soul, try to use a computer. Why are people sticking up for him like he has a keen eye for talent all of a sudden? I mean he was one of the better coaches around when he could play his game but he just got embarrassed when that didn't work.

Whether or not Clausen or Edwards actually suck is a separate but overlapping issue.

This +1

Been saying for years Fox and staff never developed an offensive skill position player during his entire tenure that wasn't already a top draft pick.
