John Fox on Armanti Edwards....

Fox was probably against that move when it happened anyway. In fact, I kind of doubt that JC would have been drafted by the Panthers, if it was all up to Fox.

I agree. Fox would have prefered to of brought in some vet and let Moore battle him in camp. He would have wanted to use the Clausen and AE picks on the OL or DL imo.

Yea no kidding, he didnt like any of the draft last year, probably b/c they knew he wouldnt be here all along. He hated Clausen and Edwards picks, you could tell in the post draft presser with him an Hurney.

On another note, someone should ask him his opinion on the The Golden Calf of Bristol pick.

Who did like those picks, besides Hurney? I don't think Fox minded being a lame duck anywhere near as bad as he disliked having his team picked for him. He knew damn well he would get another job, but he still wanted to win football games.

well, Fox pretty much answered that naming Orton the starter already. No need for competition when Fox makes his mind up.

Most guys don't look good when they go through a rookie season without much help from their coaches (which is what Panther insiders would tell you happened with Edwards).

This is exactly what I was gonna say... let's wait and see what he does when he actually gets some coaching and playing time...

a lot of people liked Clausen. They thought all those who passed on him were foolish and we landed a steal of a goldmind.

and the only help AE claimed he got was from his fellow rookies and Jarrett. I mean, why would the only legit WR being involved in helping a rookie transition to the NFL.

I'm sure he was just answering a question. Calm down.

Would you expect him to say that AE is the best WR on the team?

I'd expect him to say something more diplomatic, especially coming from someone who made an entire career of using a lot of words and never said anything meaningful. How about "we saw something in AE and I'm sure Carolina is still excited about his potential"? How hard is that?

All this does is further hurt the confidence of a kid who's struggling to make a team he himself brought in. Total dick move.

I expect people to begrudgingly bash Fox on this topic - but he is right. Edwards was a terrible pick. I like Armanti personally, but I sure as hell like that #33 overall much, much more. Think about if we had that? Draft Dareus/Green/Fairly 1st overall, and there is a good chance Locker will slip that far.

IMHO, Edwards is next in line for that guy that the Panthers draft and give every opportunity to succeed and keep on the team way too long after they know deep down he can't make it.

IE: Eric Shelton, Dwayne Jarrett, etc.

except that it has been reported that he recieved little coaching from the staff, little coaching from players outside his rookie peers, and hardly saw any action in 2010.
