New research shows Panthers fans to be the least loyal in NFL

so how do you measure loyalty I wonder?

The site says the "intensity of the support" but I would think it would be more along the lines of the "devotion of the support".

I would still say it's pretty accurate. The panther fan base is a bunch of bankers taking people out to earn business mixed with a lot of people going to a 'social event' so that they have some relevant topic to discuss or criticize and determine whether they'll be a pro panthers this year or talking smack about them as in a short, generalized insulting sense. Then you have PSL owners, most who are stuck there financially.

They can yap all day about who they've met and where they have been and how they disagree. I've lived in Charlotte for 11 years. I've been to almost 100 games. I have been made fun of for a Panthers hat more than one season. I have gone multiple seasons without seeing any colors on the street, outside of the stadium. I was here before the 2003 year when they were a Joke, I saw the change, it doesn't equate to loyalty. Sorry, but to a fellow fan at ground zero, it is completely believable. I'd say 1/10s of our fan base are actual fans.

Heard this earlier on WFNZ. We're 32 out of 32, New England's #1:

I think if we're talking right this second, I can't argue with that. Last season it got to the point where you had people posting about how they were mocked for wearing Panthers gear....in the city of Charlotte. However, I was there for that MNF game vs. Tampa Bay back in '08. If this team gives us ANYTHING, we'll support them.

I call BS, your going to tell me that we're worse the Jacksonville?? yeah right......

Here's a tip. At the next panther game you attend ask/discuss with the person to the right and to the left about the Panthers, players and organization and you will soon see the truth. None of these fools even know a lockout was coming until it did and what's more sad they thought we just sucked last year and don't relate it to the lockout even when discovering it. They don't know who JR is and what he was doing. Even the slightest info on the team, no one knows over 50% of the players or god forbid a back-up. This was with a 7 year coaching regime as well, they'll really be confused now. It's bad.

Why? Because they do not care enough. They do not have enough devotion...loyalty=devotion.

You're taking a sample size of corporate fans who can afford to take clients. That doesn't represent the whole fanbase.

Well a lot of the people I talk to got the tickets for free. If you're in Charlotte that whole can't afford it argument crumbles. Tickets can be bought for real cheap even for good seats. Now we are talking added with gas like a two person combined-$75.00 bill, like that wouldn't be spend on a weekend anyways. If you can afford beer, cigs or internet. You can afford to to to the game. If you have a car to put gas in you can afford it. If I can afford it, you can afford it.

I do agree it doesn't represent the whole fan base, but they do represent the fan base (especially to outsiders). Can you imagine walking into another team's stadium knowing more about the home team than most the fans? Awkward. There are people there that know, they also represent the fan base, in being a rarity. Which would represent those sitting at home :)

Yeah, like tee-ray said, Yas responsed to the article (to those who had any doubts he swings by-and possibly posts-here).

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/19429/carolina-fans-have-no-loyalty

And, as a commenter at the bottom of Yas' article pointed out about that website, it clearly isn't done anybody worth talking about, considering that:

21. Tampa Bay Lightening

that they can't even spell the names of all the teams on their "list."

Likely just some stupid yank with too much time and not enough info.

No "research" was done, just a bunch of "observating" on the creators part.

Pay it no mind, my fellow Huddlers.
