Why do players think teams will just let them walk?

This marriage is OVER-

I hope they franchise him and rub one out, one last time. Ya know, for old times sake.

Silly thread though. He played his contract. ( not touching the uppity thing) He has the right to go where he wants, and the Panthers will get a couple of picks for him. So please......

CALM DOWN!

hmmm, doesn't understand how labor theory of value works and uses the word arse

tory i presume?

I understand perfectly, Peppers should be franchised and shipped to the highest bidder. The TEAM is much more important than any one player. therefore the non emotional thing to do is approach this from the best business decision for the team. That decision is to franchise the player and get what you can for him.

Actually he doesn't have that right. The CBA that the players agreed to says a team has the right to tag a player and keep him here or trade his rights away to another team.

I don't think its the 'uppity *****' thing at all that has people riled up.

Peppers, just like A-Rod, gets way to much money for playing a child's game.

You know all you need to know about Julius with the statement '...put yourself in my shoes and don't get all emotional about it'.

Give me a break.

No one on this board could ever put themselves in the shoes of people who play a child's game and makes millions, and in the case of a certain baseball pitcher, a quarter of a billion $$s for playing it. There are a lot of hard working people in unemployment lines and these bozos get paid this much money.

It is not fathomable to me, that someone would be offered to be made the highest paid player, so the rumor goes, he's like, 'later dude, I need to go and grow.'.

Sorry Julius, people bought your jerseys and cheered for your because football IS emotional.

You never got that, that football is emotional, apparently as from what I could observe only a damned few handful of times did you ever show any.

As the guy on Sirius NFL said today, 'I'm tired of Julius Pepppers. Almost every NFL player would die to be made the highest paid at his position, be valued so much by a franchise, and be able to play at home, and finish his career with one team.

Have fun JP, you will find that, particularly up there in NY or Pittsburg, or NE, the media is not going to give you a free pass for taking plays off.

Too whom much is given, much is expected.

Personally, I hope your ass gets traded to Oakland.

lmfao... go take a drink of wine and chill the f*ck out. FFS, you pay to watch these players and they get paid to play. If you have such an issue with salaries, don't put money in the organizations pocket to pay them.

The money is there. Child's game my ass, this is a very technical and smart game. That only a small amount of people in the grand scheme of things have the ability to do. Therefore, they get paid.

The dude got paid and did his job. The contract is over. Don't get your panties in a bunch...

It's very simple to see what he is saying when he says, "put yourself in my shoes and don't be emotional."

He isn't asking you to pretend what it's like to get paid a lot of money. He's simply asking you to see that he only has a small amount of time in this league and he wants to make the most of it. He doesn't want to be in Carolina his entire career. He feels there are other things to experience and you get that from going to other organizations.

He isn't asking you to not be emotional about the game. Football is emotional. But he's asking you to take a step back and don't be neurotic. Understand that the guy wants to experience more and he's asking you to not take this personal.

He has every right to feel how he does. He's human. And he's being pretty smart about it. Instead of staying on one team for his entire career, he wants to see what other organizations are like.

So again, get your panties out of a bunch and let the man live.

I hope he's truly following his heart on this one because if it's because anything else ...Things could go either way on such propositions then all your bridges are burnt and whatnot plus Cowb*tches suck, Texans are a step back IMO. He should ask Moose or Wesley what to do, or what not to do.

All in all it's his choice but ...

I've heard that statement before so what he'd be doing is kinda like the equivalent of spitting in the face of what most players dream of.

Not really, because you don't really know how it is.

Saying something is this way or that way can be totally different from how it really is.

For all I know he hates Fox, and doesn't want any part of his team anymore.

What happens if he signs for another team, and the contract is smaller than what the Panthers offered him?

What would you say then if the "its all about the money" argument falls right on its face?

If a player plays out his contract, he should be free to choose the team he wants to play for. I glad that pepper choose to be a good teammate and not become a locker room cancer like most high paid players.

Peppers contract is over and he should be free, but we have a chance to get something for him. I'm not mad at peppers wanting something different. I hope he plays well on his future team.

I disagree. If you draft and develop a player you should get something in return for your investment if they leave. so did the players when they agreed to the conditions of the CBA which includes the franchise tag.

Is anyone on here not wondering WTF is going on with Gross...I mean, unless our Front Office has no clue about business, then the should have gotten the Gross situation figured out by now...I have no harsh feelings for Peppers, Its the Gross thing that is bothering me. I mean he said he wants to be a Panther, so sign a F-ing Contract and let YOUR TEAM focus on the Peppers situation! We are down to the last 4 days...I dont see how Gross is trying to be a team player...
