Are we at the point we need to rebuild or just 're tool'?

And that is why QB's fail, they are pressed into service before ready. MONEY is why they are on the field faster than normal. When you guarantee 20 mill to a kid he gets on the field NOW.

ALL of these QB's need to sit at least one, most likely 2 years and go the 'Aaron Rogers' route as for as development. I bet if teams went back to that old way of doing things you would see more teams with successful QB play.

Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning, Josh Freeman, Mark Sanchez, Sam Bradford, Ben Roethlisberger, etc. beg to differ.

However I would agree that normally I would also like for a QB to sit for at least a year.

Usually when a team goes 2-14 and has the 32nd ranked offense in the entire NFL, they are only two players away from being playoff contenders. Happens all the time. Teams like the Raiders, Rams, Lions, Redskins, Chiefs and 49er's have shown how you can rebound in no time.

Listen, I hope to God the Panthers are able to rebound like the Falcons or Dolphins were able to do but let's remember, the Dolphins haven't been back to the playoffs since that magical season. So really there is only one good example of a team that was that bad for one season being able to rebound quickly and stay good for an extended amount of time in recent history. Really, the only other example I can think of is the Panthers after 2001.

It really doesn't happen that often. Most teams, even the great teams like the 49er's, have a really hard time rebounding and yes rebuilding after falling off. It's not that you don't hope for it but unrealistic expectations are only going to set up this fan base for more disappointment. So Rivera and Hurney need to focus on rebuilding the team for the next two year or so and not worry about trying to make the playoffs in 2012 or win the Super Bowl by 2014. Just make a plan, stick to it, and if success come sooner than later, good. If not, continue to stick to the plan and eventually, and hopefully, the team will eventually get back to where they need to be.

All those you list are clearly better than all the QB's in this draft.

The same folks who told us we were going to be a contender or playoff team last year are at it again. Seriously????

First of all lets see who we sign back and who we let go before deciding anything. Everyone is predicating success based on signing everyone back and adding several more. That is not guaranteed at all.

We were awful last year and while better this year, won't be a playoff team without significant changes. Our defensive line at tackle needs 1 or 2 upgrades and guys like Brown or Hardy are going to have to step it up at the DE spot quite a bit. Once again depth may be a concern. The secondary will need one or two quality guys not backups or castoffs. Especially if we don't resign Marshall. Linebacker will be okay as long as everyone gets healthy and we sign everyone back.

But on offense we need a QB upgrade, one or two receivers especially if Smith is traded and some linemen as starters or at least backups. If we don't sign Williams any injury to Stewart or Goodson will be significant.

There are plenty of issues swirling around and if the CBA isn't signed soon, may cause significant issues for our new coaching staff.

I would think that going 7-9 this year would be very good considering last year.
