The Seahawks and free agent Matt Hasselbeck were not close to working out a new deal before March 4's transaction freeze.

This confirms a John Clayton report from three days before the freeze. If Seattle had really wanted Hasselbeck back, they likely would have gone all out to sign him before March 4. It's not a done deal that he's gone, but there's a very good chance he'll be wearing a different uniform come Week 1 next season
