Wrong IMHO... With Green, it opens up Smitty, LaFell, and even Gettis more... Green would automatically be #1 or #2, depending on where Smitty wanted to line up... Throw in the fact that we'll have Shockey out there, some depth/new blood on the OL, and we should be light years improved on O...

I can agree with you but if we have a incompetent QB, then none of that matters.

the million dollar question though:

Who the Hell is going to throw them the damn ball!?!?!?!

Clausen looked like a turd last year. I really, really, really, really, really, really, hope we don't go into next year with him as our starter. his indecisiveness and inability to throw to his receivers at any point on the field makes me confident in saying that he is worthless as a QB and won't amount to anything in the NFL.

I'd bet that some of this is Hurney not wanting to admit his first pick from last year sucked. Forget QB, who is to say we'll get a good one next year in the middle of the first. There will always be a run at QB talent in the top of the first, scraps like JC fall to the rest. If they think JC is the guy then roll with him and stop hoping for a savior next year that won't be in our reach.

The very fact that he's still in the NFL and we're all here posting on a message board attests to the fact that he is at least more competent than any of us... ;)

I have a little faith left in him... He wasn't handed a finely tuned machine to get out there and drive, so I'm not going to blame him when the wheels fell off...

i personally believe, that if we do roll with clausen next year, we will be in a fantastic spot to take a savior next year.

Green can open those guys up all the wants, still have to be able to get him or anyone else the ball to make a difference.

yeah but when the wheels fell off he tried to fix the car by whipping his dick out and having sex with the gas tank...

lol not really...

but then again, what would you expect a rookie to do in such a situation? It isn't like his coaches had any motivation whatsoever than to do anything other than chew gum and clap...

I never played QB. Give me 20 years of coaching and I would be a competent QB too :D

Seriously tho, I wasn't specifically refering to Clausen. I just agree with Catman's point. I do think Green could help on offense. But his impact would depend entirely on the QB getting him the ball. Defensive players need each other, but not as much as a WR needs a QB

You start out by assuming that Rivera would be "sitting on his hands" by starting Clausen? Maybe Rivera would start Clausen because he thinks Clausen is the best man for the job right now? With this lockout, etc... the options at QB may be very limited, so Clausen (or Moore) may be the best option at the moment.

Rivera has talked about finding a franchise QB and in the same breath he's mentioned that the guy may already be on the roster, so those comments don't really tell you anything.

Again, the premise that Rivera can't afford to start out his HC career with Clausen is silly. Rivera really can't afford to start out his HC career with # 1 overall QB bust.

If your franchise has drafted a QB you believe is the future "with some grooming" then you say that. You don't constantly talk about finding a franchise QB to anyone willing to listen. Rivera is just being polite by throwing that line in there about being on the roster.

Clausen is a project. A new offense (w/ possibly less of an offseason) ain't the place for a project like Clausen.

Rivera can't afford to start off his career continuing the dysfunction we saw last season. Too easy of a fix to continue to let that occur.

If Rivera drafts Cam he won't start week 1. They will bring in someone to get the offense established while Cam learns. Clausen isn't that QB....Clausen is a project where they need to figure out if he even deserves a roster spot as a backup.

Are you all really blind to the fact that the only real difference in last year's offense and the previous few years was that: Smitty was a little older, we didn't have Moose beside him, Jake Delhomme (a below average QB) was gone, and our OL was inconsistent?

Matt Moore should have actually been the guy, but our WRs couldn't get open like they used to. Our OL couldn't keep him on his feet for more than 3 plays in a row. The lame duck staff called horrible plays.

Enter the rookie scapegoat. Boo... hiss... all his fault!
