I agree. How much of Clausen's crappy play was really his skills and abilities vs his being a rookie vs him having a festering turd of an OC calling plays for him vs a team decimated by injuries vs not getting #1 reps in training camp vs rookie receivers....

I think with a healthy team and an OC that has any ability at all could make him a acceptable QB. Honestly, is it really fair to judge him solely on last years performance with all of the obstacles he had against him?

Wouldn't you kinda expect a rookie to suck given so many strikes against him.

I expect no pro level QB to suck that bad. Yes there were factors against him, but he sucked really, really bad. He didn't look like a good player with no help, or decent player with no line bad. He sucked when he had time, when he had a running game for support, at beginning of games, at end of games, training camp, coming out the tunnel, in pre-game warm ups, etc... Hopefully he made the leap this offseason. Got used to the speed of the game, watched tape every day. Is ready to flourish. If he is the QB we are going with I will pray, sacrifice a chicken and a virgin, and do a raindance for his success. It's just gonna be hard being encouraged about him till I see something. Just something that makes me believes he can lead our team.

again, there is no logic for Rivera to sit on his hands and roll the dice w/ Clausen this upcomnig season.

Rivera has a lot to lose to by starting Clausen. Starting Clausen means he brought nothing in at QB.....which means a wasted season. A season that he couldn't legitimately install his offense (and have it function) and get this team on track.

since day one Rivera has talked about findind a QB to anyone willing to listen. Clausen won't be the best option for Rivera.......allowing Clausen to be your best option is how you go right back to being DC.

You start out by assuming that Rivera would be "sitting on his hands" by starting Clausen? Maybe Rivera would start Clausen because he thinks Clausen is the best man for the job right now? With this lockout, etc... the options at QB may be very limited, so Clausen (or Moore) may be the best option at the moment.

Rivera has talked about finding a franchise QB and in the same breath he's mentioned that the guy may already be on the roster, so those comments don't really tell you anything.

Again, the premise that Rivera can't afford to start out his HC career with Clausen is silly. Rivera really can't afford to start out his HC career with # 1 overall QB bust.

don't mind CRA... he just hates Clausen on a personal level...

LOL, forgot - thanks for the reminder.

I think it's funny that there are folks who hate Clausen so much that they would rather see is take a HUGE risk on drafting one of these QB's 1st overall.

I could see drafting Dareus but I don't believe they will just stick with Clausen. I think they will at least bring in some competition. If Clausen wins then he earned it. But that tweet sounds like they plan on just giving him the job.

I think Peterson or Dareus are the only two players who can make an immediate impact. Green can only be as successful as the person throwing him the ball is.

Wrong IMHO... With Green, it opens up Smitty, LaFell, and even Gettis more... Green would automatically be #1 or #2, depending on where Smitty wanted to line up... Throw in the fact that we'll have Shockey out there, some depth/new blood on the OL, and we should be light years improved on O...
