Source: Panthers leaning to stick w/Clausen & pick Dareus

This will be my last post tonight. So much ignorance in this thread, such lil time.

Yes, our defense did attempt to play tough. Was the only thing that made watching the games even enjoyable. But simply stating the defense will be better by a better offense (while true) contines to ignore our defensive tackle situation.

But according to you guys, ignoring the worst defensive tackle situation in the league is worth it to draft a 3rd quarterback in 2 years. Gotta love that logic.

Let's draft all quarterbacks. Every pick. Then when they ain't done squat in 6 months time, let's get rid of them and draft more quarterbacks. This is something we simply can't ignore!! Get on the train, or be a wuss.

Those are some of the best arguements of all time.

For whatever reason, obviously expectations were high for last year. Season turned to mush, first it was blame Fox, now he is gone and the easy finger to point is at the QB. While I'm not defending that position, Fox or anyone, to point one finger in that direction is an easy, lazy way out. Why people see any QB in this class as a franchise QB, is beyond me. People with nothing on the line, or a job to lose, can shout out RISK all damn day. In the end, they can go back to being burger flippers.

The first 5 draft picks overall should be starters in the NFL.

Any player drafted that early, especially without a rookie cap, that cannot clearly distinguish himself above teammates at his position is a bust.

Because there is no evidence that would indicate any newly drafted player will get to train before the 2011 season begins, I believe teams must consider players who do not require training to compete before players who do require training.

In other words, players that will obviously present a physical matchup problem in the NFL are the safest picks in this year's draft.

DT or trade down.

And that is illogical and stupid. When did Rivers become a bust?? He didn't start for two years and he was picked 4th.

Plus just because a guy has more talent than a starter doesn't necessarily mean he should be expected to start day one. Especially at QB.

Does anybody believe Clasuen is a franchise QB?

Quite frankly, I am not sure yet what Clausen is.

I would like to see him given a chance to develop...with good coaches and a sound gameplan.

I am not ready to give up on him yet...but woudl keep him on a short leash. One more season to prove his worth...then make a decision.

OK, I'll rebut.

Rivers is a valid exception to my "rule", but there aren't many. Few teams are in the position that San Diego was on draft day, and Carolina certainly isn't.

I believe that Phillip Rivers was the MVP of the Senior Bowl and ACC Athlete of the Year in 2004, the year he was drafted, got some award for most consecutive games, played all 4 years in college and got some kind of national award as a rookie too. I can't remember for sure.

Is there any player whose resume is comparable to that in this paltry draft?

Nope. QB's in this draft aren't even worth touching IMO.

I personally still like Fairley ahead of Dareus even though Dareus is more NFL ready. However many say Fairley has motivation issues and problems with taking plays off. Well to this I say...I would love to see what he looks like when Rivera got his motivational issues solved because the dude had 56 tackles, 24 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, and 1 interception (apparently while having motivational issues).

^ Oh, oh, oh, I know him it was Patrick Peterson.

Ah poo, wait I know... it was A.J. Green...

Damnit, it must have been Dareus

Fug it, it was T.J. Yates. Am I right???

I think it was TJ Yates:thumbsup: Speaking Yates we should switch him with Pike.

His resume and stock was lower than Cam's this year and he was taken 4th overall. Espn had him the 3rd rated QB in his class and 14th overall.

And that class wasn't supposed to be as good as it ended up being.
