Over the years, I've seen various threats to leave the Panthers over one thing or another:

- "If they don't cut Jake Delhomme, I'm done with this team."

- "If they don't fire (Jeff Davidson/John Fox/Marty Hurney/Ron Meeks/Whomever), I'll never give this team another cent."

- "If they run one more draw play, I'm finished with these guys."

- "If they don't draft - or sign - Player X, it's proof this team doesn't care about winning."

In pretty much every case, stupid statements made by silly people who never followed through on them (even though in most cases, we wished they had).

We've had all that and more, but now the newspaper finds some nimrod who plans to print anti-Newton T-Shirts. And that's supposed to be a big deal or somehow prove rampant racism in the fanbase.

News flash: All the "racial undertones" are more likely in your head. There are some folks who just don't happen to think Newton is the best choice. And throwing charges of racism or personal bias against folks just because they happen to disagree with you about a draft pick is pretty weak (and, as one poster found out, can get you banned).

Bottom Line: Thinking that nobody can possibly doubt Cam Newton unless they're racist is really, really stupid :frown2:

What is silly & really really stupid is you taking me saying there are racial overtones regarding Cam(& there is) as if I am saying everyone who questions his talent is a racist! This whole back & forth is really stupid. Some of you are taking what I said waaaay out of context, but whatever. Not wasting my time on this anymore. Trust me, I am not a "regular" on this site. What I find amusing is that, as often as not, the first mention of racism is when someone is being accused of it, despite the fact that the topic of race hasn't even entered the conversation prior to that time.

I don't actually believe this will happen of course. We will more than likely win just enough games to be out of contention to draft a Franchise QB....again. And probably at the cost of a few star players who got hurt playing their guts out to try and win games without a passing threat. Man, I used to be so optimistic about panther football. :(

Have you all thought to yourself why would Mel Kiper call Cam Newton a one year wonder, and Jimmy Clausen never had consecutive good seasons at Notre Dame. He was HORRIBLE his freshman and sophmore years. Speaking of Jimmy Clausen I want you all to watch this

I didn't read your post but I did watch the video and I got confused because for a while I thought that was Cam Newton throwing all those screens, check downs, and streaks to wide open receivers.

You are so incredibly wrong it hurts, dude. Your entire premise is built that people don't want Cam Newton because... I don't even know.

You seem to think that everyone wants either Clausen, Gabbert, or Newton. You're insane.

Some of us just think that we would be a better team if we drafted Dareus or another player and got quarterback competition through FA.

As a note, some of us have seen Gabbert play. Some of us have watched him for two years. Some of us like him a lot. Almost none of us want him at #1. Some just would rather have him than Newton, which isn't necessarily saying much. I'm Gabberts biggest defender on these boards and I wouldn't draft him #1 overall.

edit: Clausen wasn't a one year wonder. His numbers weren't amazing his sophmore year, sure, but they weren't terrible. He may have been terrible, but it wasn't due to his stats... :P
