Blaine Gabbert: Some coaches put off by Gabbert Blaine Gabbert

I have to say, there are a lot of racist fans. Especially when I read the comments off the observer. :eek6:

Its fear, desperation, insecurity all balled into one. Alot of Panther fans place their self worth and how they feel about themselves based on the identity of our QB. How else do you explain fans latching on to the worst QBs in the league? That doesnt normally happen in sport. JT, thing is we'd have a lot more posts like that here if I wasnt around. The week I was banned, the racist rhetoric and stereotyping increased tenfold on this board in regards to this subject. Posts like that are the mentality that YML, Hatter, etc want our football team to protect and cater to. "Lets just sell our football team to people who hate black QBs. Yeah that'll bring us prosperity!"

I wanted Michael Vick when he got out of prison, so I guess that makes the above post fuggin retarded, and narrow-minded doesnt it?

the same article said the following, but I guess the Gabbert part was the only thing worth mentioning in the OP...

The more scouts dig, the more I am finding they are turned off on Auburn QB Cam Newton. Citing that he’s a me first guy and has some real character flaws behind the scenes. One scout said he handles himself flawlessly in front of the camera, but when they are off he’s not the same guy.

the first page of this thread does mention that, when someone actually provided a link to the article.

kinda obvious why the link wasn't initially provided, but oh well.

not like it matters. we have no idea if the Panthers belong to either group. They could be madly in love with both of them, and Hurney could be left sleepless at night trying to decide who to take. The indecision could be ruining his life. ;)

When I read that part of the article I questioned it simply because of what his former teamates say about how team oriented he was. When they say that he's different off-camera wasnt a big deal to me because this whole thing is just a big job interview. Most people at job interview are a lot different from outside the workplace

I do think a lot of these comments are just little snipits reporters are grasping at to report. Some of them do offer insight into a player but I bet quite a few of them are taken out of context too. While I don't think that always changes the meaning, it does in some cases.

More often than not Vick also lead his team to NFC championship game.

More often than not? Vick took the Falcons to 1 NFC Championship game, which they lost, never led them to 2 consecutive playoff appearances nor to 2 consecutive winning seasons. Yeah, they've really gone down hill since he's been gone. Just for the record.

They havent won a playoff game since Vick and are nowhere near as relevant. Theres alot of doubt whether Ryan will ever take them as far as #7 did.

Yes...we should only talk about Cam. A run first QB who can't read defenses...can't make progressions. who takes off if his primary receiver is not open...who only takes snaps in the shotgun. Yes, he is the savior.

Like every other run first QB (Vick, Smith, etc.) that has come out....he is going to change the game. Guess what...he won't.

Unless he learns to be a pass first QB like Vick did (and yes it took 10 damn years for him to do that), he will be nothing more than a highlight reel that does not win poo.

That is all.

Doesn't matter what you think. There are more indications that the Panthers are drafting Newton than for any other player. There are essentially zero signs that they're highest on Gabbert.
