Peppers update coming shortly

While Carey initially indicated that Peppers wanted to play in a 3-4 defense, that’s apparently not set in stone, as Peppers said there were some 4-3 schemes that appealed to him.

Asked if he’d stay if the Panthers switched to a 3-4 system, Peppers called that “fantasy football,” since coach John Fox isn’t going to change for one guy.

“I’m just looking for a chance to do things with the abilities I have, that playing this position I’m playing now doesn’t allow me to do.”

He also understands there are legions of fans throughout his native land wearing his jersey, and he begged for their understanding as well.

“Put yourself in my shoes, instead of being emotional about it,” he said.

That's just it, Pep. We don't know what your shoes are so how can we put ourselves there?

It's not $$ if he wouldn't sign a deal before the season that would have made him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. It isn't about the 3-4 since there are some 4-3 teams that appeal to him. It isn't about just moving around on the line in the 4-3 because Carolina did that with him. It isn't about the coaches (unless it is Fox) because the D coaches are all gone. The only thing all this leads me to believe is that it is what I was thinking...he wants pretty much to rush the passer and the only 3-4 position he will mainly do that from is WOLB. If they tag him and trade him to a 3-4 team, I would be very interested to see if he will accept a 3-4 OLB type contract which will be less than one for a premier 4-3 DE.

Dear reporters,

Get back to us when you have REAL news about this team.

Thanks

Eh, there is nothing really new here, but I'm gonna give them a break since there is nothing else to talk about ATM.

I understand your frustration though...when you read "Breaking News", you expect something you didn't already know.

Good point. Ask Terrell Suggs, linebacker pays less. And seriously, if he's playing anywhere he's going to have to be manned up on a blocker and taking that blocker on. The idea that he won't be playing the run or that he won't be double teamed? No.

Well, people can finally put the "it's Fox" thing to rest. He said "it's not Fox". He said "it's not the scheme".

Um, he's going to be playing for another team, correct? Fans always jump overboard on their newly signed superstars, wanting rookie cards and all that. Piss off, k thanks.

Yeah, if I were a [insert team he goes to] fan, I'd really want his jersey from the previous team. But hey, if you think you'll make a killing selling cards and whatnot, go for it. Get rich.

We should put it to rest because he is our coach and Pep will not being playing here so...who gives a crap. But he did say two years ago he had lost respect for someone on the staff. And of course from today...

As far as wanting to explore a different system, I said things about wanting to maybe play in a 3-4, and that’s still the case. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’m ruling out any other teams that play a 4-3. I just sort of have that option available because I feel in that particular system, it would allow me to do things that playing defense in a 4-3 doesn’t necessarily allow me to do.

Coach Fox is a 4-3 guy and I could never really see him changing and going to a (3-4). I can’t really answer that question because I don’t really think it’s possible.

I’m the only one who truly knows the ability I have. I feel it could be maximized and I feel like I could be even more productive than I’ve been in the past. I feel like I’ve gotten close to maxing out in the system I’m in now

So that IS the scheme. Hopefully he can find what he wants. He's a fun player to watch. I just hope we can replace him with a good FA.
