Ryan Mallett's 'pass placement was awful'

SI.com draft analyst Tony Pauline believes that Ryan Mallett's 64.7 completion rate is not indicative of the Arkansas quarterback's accuracy.

"His pass placement was awful," observed Pauline, who believes Christian Ponder is a better prospect. "Ponder puts the ball where not only his receiver can catch it, but he hits them in stride." Mallett would seem to have a much higher ceiling of the two, but Ponder is the safer and more NFL-ready pick. Mallett is perhaps the biggest boom-or-bust prospect in the draft. Mar 17, 11:46

Ponder is too injury prone IMO. He's a solid QB, but doesn't have much of an arm.

Chad Pennington if I had to make a comparison. That's not necessarily a bad thing as I think Pennington was pretty darn good when healthy, but I think we'll see Ponder also struggle to stay healthy and never really achieve his potential due to that.
