Blaine Gabberts Mega thread

He may not have gone ahead of Bradford. But ifr he had a better throwing motion I have no doubt he would have been a top 10 pick. I actually had him rated above Clausen and I think everyone would have agreed with me if his throwing motion was better.

There were a ton of questions about if The Golden Calf of Bristol could properly read NFL defenses, plus he had accuracy questions, and footwork questions. All of these sound like someone else we know. Hell, some even were openly concerned about his 22 on the Wonderlic, but not that many (come on, Wonderlic means little). It is very possible he coulda been in the top half of the first round despite those if his throwing motion was better... but I'm not saying Cam Newton doesn't belong in the first round, just that he (nor Gabbert imho) belongs as #1 overall.

The point here is just that detractors of Cam Newton may not be racist and may actually be judging him on the tools he will use at the next level. Still, the enormous potential means he will go some place in the first.

I agree with the second part and I hope you didn't think I was implying that criticism to Cam is based off of race.

And The Golden Calf of Bristol with his, intangibles and work ethic, would have easily been a top ten pick if he threw the ball correctly. IMO. But it isn't quantifiable one way or the other so we just have to agree to disagree on where he would have went.

I would say this. Personnel people don't put as much stock into what kind of offense a player played in college as the media guys do. It makes their tape work a little easier but they really don't care that much.

That is why it wasn't that shocking to see Clausen fall down the board. Or Leinart. Or Rodgers. All those guys slipped but were graded out higher than other guys bc of their college offense
