Blaine Gabberts Mega thread

What was the consensus on his pro day?

He did very well. reactions ranged from "Pretty good" to "Amazing, elite-level ability" (Mayock/Brandt)

But that doesn't mean we're going to draft him... and hell, our GM and HC weren't even there so who knows.

I kind of called the Gabbert hype train a few months ago. as soon as he hit the combine and his pro day i knew he was going to be the hot stuff for the QB position. I am almost certain we draft him.

do I want it? not necessarily. I just expect it to happen.

I actually watched college football outside of the tarheels for the first time in a while and I never heard of Gabbert until Luck decided to stay. Go back and try to find Gabbert's name before that date. I just have a feeling that something ain't right about this. I've watched tape of him and I just don't see it. If they draft him I hope I'm wrong, but I rather have Peterson, Dareus,Green or Fairley than him.

after luck decided to stay is when the blaine hype train really picked up steam, I won't argue that. he was the #2 rated QB pretty much all year when Luck was still eligible. of course he was only rated a 93 prospect at that time, and the moment luck decided to stay he magically jumped to a 96. didn't make sense to me either.

I have the same concerns you do. his college game looks a lot like clausen's did. and not in a good way. the only difference i see is that gabbert is a leader, and he seems to be a quick thinker. that and a difference of about 3 inches in height.

blaine gabbert was going to be next year's hot quarterback prospect, not this year's. Him coming out threw all the draftniks for a loop.

If he was really that hot a prospect they would've thought he was coming out this year.

Just my opinion but have you ever heard anyone say, "This guy is such a good NFL prospect that he is going back to school?"

He gets a bump because he was highly regarded in high school and people think he is awesome but played in the wrong offense and he had a good half against Iowa.

Why do you think that? He'd only played two years. He was widely expected to return for another year. There had been no rumblings about it. What changed was when he got a first round grade from the draft advisory board back in December. Missouri recommended he go to the NFL. So he did.

Because he wasn't that hot a prospect. If he was there would have been more rumblings about it.

You mean like #5 to Arizona when Andrew Luck was still in the draft? Or how about being ranked mid way through the year as one of the top underclassman by ESPN? Or how various draft sites actually said things like "and I'm not bothering with ranking Gabbert because he isn't coming out"

He got a decent amount of publicity when Missouri reached the top 10 but after it's fall from it he didn't get much news until his Bowl Game, which isn't all that surprising all things considered. He wasn't in the Heisman Watch, and Draft Watch really doesn't start until you get into the bowl season.

I was just busting your balls. I did google Gabbert and Draft together

and haven't found one thing written about him before his Iowa game. I am still looking though.

I like him though I just like to push your buttons. You return the favor often with Cam
