Blaine Gabberts Mega thread

Not at all. But again everyone is hedging their bets. It is like they aren't sure what to say (just like Cam's pro day BTW). I stick by what I said earlier. He didn't wow or disappoint. He was about what everyone expected him to be.

:o

eh, there were some pretty negative reports about Cam's just after his pro day though. It was kinda hit or miss. People who liked him like it, people who didn't... well, didn't.

We'll get to hear some scout responses to Gabbert soon which could change some tunes.

I think he has been talking to people actually there. Judging from this tweet

Yeah, he has. I meant I thought he was there talking to them.

8 out of 10 seems about right. Russell and Bradford had 9s or 10s in recent memory; Ryan's was an 8 or a 9. Don't recall Staffords but I think he did well. At least, that is what I thought people said.

Cam's pro day was just like everything with Cam. Two ends of the spectrum. But honestly Cam did have a pretty good day. But this is about Gabbert.

I just think he did exactly what people expected him to do.

Which isn't an insult.

Yeah, but I'm not interested in another ho-hum average college QB that can't throw the deep ball. In the offense that Rivera is running, I'm pretty sure the deep ball is a prerequisite at QB.

But, I guess it depends on what they see, I just think he could be Jimmy V2.

I agree. I think Gabbert is better than that but I am a Cam guy personally.

My 3 are Cam, Dareus, or pp7

Gabbert can throw the ball deep. If you're going to draft a quarterback on his arm there is no reason not to take Mallett.

I don't want a quarterback in this draft but the idea that Gabbert can't go deep is crazy.

btw, even Clausen has the arm strength to go deep. The reason he didn't has little to do with his ability to make deep throws.

MAV what do you make of the scouts making a big deal of his completion percentage on passes over 15 yards?? Mush ado about nothing, the wide receivers, or Gabbert's fault. Honest question bc you have seen more games than I have. I have only watched about 5 games.

Same here, and somewhere deep down even though it isn't an area of need I still like Julio Jones and Aj Green. I have a feeling that Marvin Austin may actually be the best DT out of this draft as well.

I think Peterson is the safest pick but Cam has the most potential.

Yeah, I believe he can throw it deep, but I don't think he can ACCURATELY throw it deep when it counts. Which is the same issue we saw with Jimmy this year. I also think there's different definitions of arm strength - there's zip/velocity vs. yardage covered. Some guys have one and not the other, some guys have both - I think Gabbert, like Jimmy, is a velocity guy but have much less ability throwing for distance. I haven't seen a lot of him, but I've seen several games and wasn't overly impressed with him. I have no idea how he's even projected over Mallett or Dalton tbh.

And I love Mallett's arm, but I'm really concerned about the drug issue. And as I said, I'm for drafting Cam because his arm strength is comparable to Mallett's, he appears to throw deep with touch in games, and he has the biggest potential out of all the top prospects.

I also, for some reason, think he can be more of a leader than the other QBs because he seems more of an outgoing personality. But, who knows...
