AT&T to Impose Caps on Internet usage

Because cable companies rape you if you just want internet.

I can kinda see it but kinda not.

TWC is not really that bad for standard road runner. I think they are going for $45 dollars a month by it self, but if you get it with tv etc it goes down. I mean yeah its not at&t's $19.99, but they don't tell you that you gotta provide your own modem etc and they wont support anything but typically motorola modems. (Which are still not bad around 70-100 bucks)

I just don't really understand the logic of capping it because you have faster internet that doesn't have a cap available but lets put a cap and a harder selling point (TWC is really going to throw that in their face) for them.

It's true that cable internet is shared ie. neighborhoods/apartments, but the farther you get away from the main stations for phone/dsl the slower and harder it is to be available. They both have their pro's and con's

more so aimed at those folks downloading movies and music etc. I'm sure it won't take long for smart people to find a way around it.

So you think that Neflix/Apple etc won't get pissed at this measure also? I won't be surprised if you see them come out with a "netflix" package or something with these ISP's that give Netflix a kick back for limiting them from downloads etc.

I would like to hear it from ATT before I actually see what the specifics are.

I have ATT's fastest and most expensive package for Internet useage, and its still only 36 bucks a month. I seriously doubt they will put some kind of bandwidth restriction on my connection, but I don't download much, so it wouldn't be an issue for me if they did.

of course, they won't like it at all.
