no because peterson is a blue chip player, he's a "sure thing" you might say. He is at a position that doesn't have as high of a bust rating as qb, and even if by some random act of nature he tends to bust, then the state of the panthers won't be as bad as it would if we took a qb. Because db's can be replaced, and are easier to find than qb's. But a franchise qb is very hard to find, and in this draft i see zero potential franchise qb's. Sorry.

wrong quote sorry guys. I agree with this guy. My fault

with this type of thinking, we'll turn into the Lions.

If you can't recall, the Lions drafted Joey Harrington 3rd overall because they needed a QB. They could of picked anyone, but because they had a need at QB they reached and landed a bust.

And the past few seasons the Lions have landed some solid talent (it's unfortunate though with Stafford having these shoulder injuries).

So you can't say we are the Lions, because we are worse.

Hell I wish we had a good of a season as the Lions did. They are picking at #13. They must be making some sort of improvement

Not a Detroit Lions apologist, just stating the facts.

You are exactly right. That logic is more like the Bills. They have been using this logic for 20 years now. How are they doing anyway??

How smart is this Peterson kid? In all these threads talking about him, Ive yet to see anyone remark how intelligent he is or how cerebral a person he is. What's making him a "sure thing" his athletic ability alone? His coverage skills? Being a corner in the NFL, requires more than just "athleticism". You need instincts and smarts to battle against the Mannings and Bradys. We would be paying this kid a lot of money if we took him #1, and I would hope whomever we draft that high would be asked to be more than just a "mindless defensemen". We went that route with Pep, and got 3 winning seasons out of 8 with him. This kid would need to be the second coming of Deion to justify being so fiscally irresponsible dumping so much cash on a corner while continue to ignore QB.

Hes just an amazing individual, and athlete combined. The least "bust-worthy" out of the prospects.

So wait.

A player who would absolutely force teams to have to completely game plan against him and change the way they do things on offense a great deal is not worth the #1?

The notion is that they aren't worth it because other teams can throw away from them.

Of course, that's really only a problem if your other corners all suck.
