Apparently the late Gene Upshaw believed former player George Martin was an NFL plant in the NFLPA and because of this, Smith is having to question all of the veteran players intentions via questionaires....

Man this is getting crazy....but hey....I'd be inserting plants too if $9 billion was on the line ;)...wonder what the NFL is paying George Martin?

The fact that D Smith will not even meet with him looks bad.

The NFLPA will have a lot of fence mending to do when this is all over.

Telling college guys not to show up for the draft

Telling vets to kiss off

Yes, "we are for the former, PRESENT, and future players"

Or this Martin fella sees a big offer left on the table that would have help him, and the rest of the NFL Alumni out, and he wants to know exactly what the hell De Smith is doing?

Nah, can't be it. He must be an NFL implant.

Guess you stopped reading when they mentioned the $1,000,000 loan from the NFL that was at 0%. I would love for someone to throw a million bucks at me interest free....secondly....Gene Upshaw was the guy who didn't want to deal with Martin, because he said clearly he was not representing the vets...meaning he was representing the NFL....the union can't allow non-union members to obtain sensitive information during a CBA negotiation....

Martin is a plant living off 0% interest loans from the NFL, not to mention any other money the NFL may be giving him to create a riff...

I dismissed it as first. However, the more you post, the more I am inclined to think you are a PR plant for the NFLPA. Then again, you might be a plant for Zod to simply stir the poo.

Anywho, good luck selling your agenda... people are severely aware of just what you and HP are

Gene Upshaw, God rest his soul, was probably a good man in his personal life. As the director of the NFLPA he was a piece of poo that did far more harm than good. He continually rejected former players and never fought for any benefits for them. The NFL was the ones that eventually stepped up to the plate to help the former players, correcting the injustice they originally imposed on them.

Is Martin a plant? Hell no. But I also think there isn't a doubt that he and probably the majority of former players are agaisnt the NFLPA at this point in time and for good reason. So it makes sense that the NFLPA isn't willing to talk with him. But it isn't because they think he is a plant. It's because they, the current players, hate the former players since money that could be going to current players is going to former players.

For a DC lawyer, De Smith does seem like he completely doesn't understand that the players union is a collection of people with different ideas on what they want and is not gearing to try to please at least most of them. He's going out on his own ideal and creating divides wherever he goes. He will lose. the Players will get what they want through the owners.
