:) I've decided for the hell of it to jump on the Cam bandwagon, but if they go another route I will be fine with it. The only choices I would really cringe at are a DE, Gabbert or Fairley. And with Gabbert I could probably get over the bad feeling quick.

This thread is practically hugger free. People are making rational comments and not being attacked for their insolence. Freedom of speech and the ability to express logical, reasonable perspectives without scorn or ridicule from Cult Cam is nice.

Because even the ones that want him, that aren't blind fanatics, admit he's not a top ten football player right now. Maybe in the future...but not now.

See, that's not even how I rated my players. I go by who I think will be the best player(s) in 3-5 years, not who can play best right away.

My top ten looks... disturbingly similar to that second list. I have Gabbert up one or two depending on the day.

I like that you removed the #1 and #10 picks. Makes it less hugger-happy.

I find this interesting from a fan's perspective, as I don't think the Panthers' board will look much like this...

The only way they have Peterson ranked #1 overall is if Gamble is gone... That is considering Marshall is gone too... If one or both of those guys stays, we shouldn't have a CB ranked #1 on our board.

Just my opinion, but thank you for posting this... It made me break out my formulas and stuff that I normally do (but was putting off this year because of the mess the CBA stuff has become)...

By my own estimations and observations, the Panthers biggest needs right now are:

WR

QB

DT

...in that order, taking into account current players at those positions, their quality, and our depth overall at the position... It is a VERY close race, with those positions grading out within .22 points of need...

Things can drastically have an effect on this scale though between now and draft day, as in if something happens via FA or something and we lose/gain players at those positions... That isn't looking very likely though, so it appears the Panthers are going to have a very tough choice between those 3 positions...

I don't know what grading formula you are using, so don't take this as a slight. However, I would drop WR to 3rd or 4th of positions of need based on the Shockey signing and Chud's propensity for throwing to the TE. Having TEs involved in the passing game will take a lot of pressure off of our receiving corps IMO.
