So, who's side are you on now?

It took you 5 edits to get this remark? And all 5 were basically the same comment.

You sound like an overpaid player who feels intitled to more $ just because you are an athlete who plays pro football and never finished college. Always expecting someone else to pay for your free ride.

Remember, it's the fans who pay the salaries. Without their support, there is no football. And most fans would rather see scab players in the NFL this season than no NFL at all. So individual players don't mean as much to the fans as players themselves think they do.

I will ask you again, show all of us here on this board who it is that have the "All Hail The Owners" belief. Because we don't see it.

Yeah, I go back and forth whether to even bother with a reply, because so many of you have your minds made up without even scratching the surface of the issues at hand, and make up/misquote some bullshit to arrive at the reactionary conclusion of: owners deserving, players lucky to have jobs. I'm not going to give you examples; if you don't see it, you're obviously unwilling to as it's on virtually every fugen page of the thread.

What blows my mind is how many posters here are so impulsively devoted to NFL owners, who, by the way, are famous for pressuring cities to build them new stadiums with taxpayer money and are more than happy to skip town at the drop of a hat for a better deal. Yet somehow it galls you people for these same owners to have to answer in any way to the players who give them this leverage.

Laugh out loud to suggest fans would watch scab players stuffed in pro uniforms. The NFL would die almost as fast as the XFL.

this so hard. the owners dont give a poo about the fans. all they care about is $$$.

they believe they have the fans by the balls and are willing to give up a year of football to make more money. its true and i think it is pathetic that fans would put up with that.

Seriously? You guys really think the NFL could sustain itself without employing the best players in the world? And moreover, why would you want that?

they don't have the best players in the world now and never have

they have the best players that don't get thrown in jail, caught smokn weed, juicing, blood doping, flunked outta college, etc.

If we also have to do without the ones that think they are too good to earn a paycheck like everyone else in a recession by puttn in a little extra work...I could not ******* care less

Well, call me blind then. Because I still don't see posters here that are "impulsively devoted to NFL owners".

What I see is the fans given a choice between a douche and a turd sandwich. No one is claiming that one choice is the most obvious and better choice over the other choice. Both choices suck ass. Most have chosen the turd sandwich. And the turd sandwich is the owners.

Now if you want to claim the players are completely in the right in this situation and the owners are to take full blame for this ridiculous and utterly stupid argument where the fans are caught right smack in the middle, that's your right.

But to make that claim without any facts to back them up other than "You posters are stupid. I know what's best. If you don't listen to me, you are an idiot." then go ahead and be That Guy.

Just don't act surprised when posters call you an idiot and think you are completely full of poo.

The owners and players obviously don't give a poo about the security officers, vendors, camera operators, commentators, janitors, or anyone else with a family that is going to be put out of a job that are directly employed by the NFL, or make their living off of the season, so fug them all.

This has all been a colossal waste of time and resources and even with over 9000 lawyers they couldn't get a contract settled. All this money spent posturing and jet setting around just to have a lockout over money?

I guess you have to spend money to dispute money. :|

fffffffffffffffffffffffff uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu owners and players

OK, you're blind.

Yes, they've impulsively and with great conviction chosen the turd sandwich based on no sound reason, or any reason, whatsoever. In fact, since you framed it that way, why the fug would you choose either? But the board has chosen. Decisively. And it's pathetic.

I never claimed I favored the players and I certainly never said the players are "completely" right in this dispute. I do lean more sympathetically toward the players in this particular dispute because the owners forced this lockout, and from everything I've heard and read from CREDIBLE sources on the subject, the owners have been taking a strong armed, take it or leave it approach in dealing with the players.

You guys who zombie-like, declare "Owners!" are speaking without facts. Go back and read the damn thread.

Ok, call me an idiot. Vote in my favor as far as I'm concerned.

I think this post best summarizes the board's reactionary pro-owner sentiment. Jealousy and petty resentment towards players, who are visible and sort of like us only they have it much better, while we can't even begin to identify with owners, so it's hard to fix any sort of emotion towards them at all.

Your ego called. It's eating itself again.

The crux for the vast majority of people that would side with owners rather than players do so simply for the reason of principle. Players want all the advantages of partnership with none of the risk. It's because of this comment that we assume that you didn't read the thread.

Like Skew said... assumption, misquote, mis-characterization

lol at the people that think more than 10% of the players care about the fans and not the money, like they claim all owners do.

I realize neither care about the fans. Both sides only care about the money.

Period

But I am a business man. And if my belief that, in a business, the one that takes the most risk desires the most reward is wrong in your view, you might want to tell that to your boss. Because you obviously don't own the business.

Just saying.

As for antame, he is entitled to his opinion. And I'd fight for his right to that opinion. But until he can back up his beliefs with facts, that's all they are. Opinion. And should never be taken as anything more.

Also, all I've every expressed was my opinion. Nothing more. But I don't try to pass it off as fact either. That's the whole reason I started this thread. To find out other's opinion of this matter.

But one of my pet peeves is people who try to pass their opinion off as facts. I'm going to call BS on it whenever I see it.

If it pisses people off that I do that, I don't care. But when I see it, I'm going to point it out for others to see. I hate to see people think they have influenced other people's thoughts by parading their opinion as facts.

I agree with that mostly, though I think some players probably care a little bit about fans, while I doubt any owners do at all. PSLs anyone?

Man, please don't compare your business and your risk and effort as a businessman to NFL ownership, and players to your employees. They are not analogous, not even close, and such comparisons are unfair to YOU. By the way, it might surprise you learn that I'm a business owner as well with 50+ employees, and tend to side with management in labor disputes in pro sports. In this case, however, I think it's downright pathetic for fans to circle the wagons around owners, and I said so.

Thanks skew, it's very noble and courageous of you to offer to fight for my right to an opinion. I'd do the same for you. And I too hate when people present their opinions as facts, and try not to do that myself. I gather you think I have, however, and you are demanding proof of something, though I'm not exactly sure what at this point.
