I don't think the players are unhappy with Smith at all. If it drags on to the Fall and they miss games it might change. But right now they voted him in to fight the owners and that he is doing. If the players win in court he will be the hero. At this point they are probably totally behind him and expect to win.

he has put them over a barrel. it's like george costanza trying to negotiate.

owners made a reasonable concession and they basically threw it back in the owners face.

i don't see that most of the players approve of him. i've seen most comments as "WTF just happened? i thought we were close to a deal!" i'm sure they'd all rather this thing be over and get back to business. the only thing standing between them and business getting back to usual is big headed smith.

it's not like they were getting screwed over. it's all smith trying to act tough.

I want to know why De Smith thinks he should be able to look at all the books. And when he walked out at 4:45 on Friday the condition was he wanted the books so they could audit them. And to have a alwsuit filed immediatleyl after he decertify the union. Maybe the league can jsut start signing players without the union. Make the right offers and see how many FA sign and rookies sign and go to work.
