Decertification

Richardson looks like a dummy for signing shockey, he just gave him 1 million in free money.

Still a decent chance judge will extend CBA for one more year giving us another season. Then the signing makes him look like a genius.

I'm no legal expert but I think the players (without the union) can file a class action anti-trust suit against the NFL now.

they can, but I was under the impression some part of that required that the decertification be a legitimate action and not just a sham. Not sure why. I know nothing of law or collective bargaining so

Owner's conceded:

-Reduction of offseason practices, more time off/less contact durning the season

-Better medical for retirees

-18 game schedule negotiations shelved for two years

-Rookie cap at NFLPA specifications

-Split the difference of the already re-negotiated revenues. A couple hundred million dollars.

-The amount of money the union wants will be achieved in 2014, ONLYthree years away.

-D. Smith told players around noon that the decertifcation was on...essentially the union at the table this afternoon was a big joke.

Don't tell me you're losing money and want $1 billion dollars back. SHOW ME! It's that simple. You can't ask the players union to give ONE dollar back without showing a loss.

Now the courts will show the truth....

Why should any team show their financial stements... It's a privetly owned business... It's their right to keep it private.

Here's the thing, the union has a sympathetic judge and they think that's their ace in the hole. He has ruled against the NFL before in the player's favor. They wanted to go to court becasue they think they will at WORST achieve status quo and at best get more perks out of this.

The whole process by D. Smith and the Union was one big farce.

they refused to give up any money without having full disclosure of financial documents.

I am beginning to wonder if they have someone on the inside that makes them believe there is something not right.

Otherwise, I have no idea why they would do this unless D. Smith really just wanted to go to court, which I guess is very possible.

I don't get it - how the hell can the union decertify and then go to court? It's a sham. It'll be recreated the second they get a ruling in their favor. I just don't understand how that isn't obvious. Or does that not matter?

I know. Legally however they are not a union, so laws pertaining to unions do not apply. I personally would rather see the NFL continue with some type of agreement between clubs and force the players to play and re-work their deals without the protection of their union. (Players that don't want to play can get a real job)
