Are you seriously complaining about Manning's first season? Just go and have a look at how many rookie records he set that year. The Ints were high, but notice how quickly they declined?

No I didn't. I said he had shown the ability to make pre-snap reads and adjustments, which is why he was so sought after. I never said he was an elite QB from day 1. The fact that he set 5 rookie records in '98 just indicates though how advanced he was as a rookie compared to most after they are drafted. Then in his 2nd season he was pretty much already one of the top QBs in the league...

Most of that has been addressed.

Footwork- Has been working on it, and is said to have improved drastically.

Accuracy and Release- His accuracy and release are far better than many give him credit for. Most of the stuff you here about his accuracy and realease is just haters being haters. His accuracy on check downs and reads under 10 yards was in the top of the country. His accuracy is far greater than any other projected first round QB as accuracy of passes 20 yards or more is leaps and bounds ahead of Gabbert's. His release is graded as above average, no concerns there.

Reading Defenses- If gives Rivera the impression that he will be a student of the game, which I assume he will be then no worries here.

Risks- I have said this before. Newtons' reward is greater than his risk. His character issues are blown way out of proportion. If I'm not mistaken the NCAA conducts investigations just like the court of law. Innocent until proven guilty. As far as the criminal allegations, they don't seem to make or break his ability so with said I am not concerned.

Conclusion- only worry of mine is the footwork.

This is the problem with Cam discussions. It is literally impossible to discuss his negatives, despite being able to do that about any other player.

I'll have a go :)

1. To me this is his biggest issue. Now as you said this is something he can work on and it's coachable. The question of course is whether he has the work ethic to do it. I think it's clear he's been working hard with his QB coach to get better though.

2. Pretty much depends on #1. Clearly he throws a great deep ball. He misses a lot of easy shorter throws because of his footwork.

3. Pretty clean fluid release to me.

4. As mentioned earlier I don't think he's ever going to be a guy who can win the game at the LOS a la Brady/Manning. But his skillset is so unique he can create extra plays with his feet and ability to extend plays. Freeman, Roethlisberger, Vick, Flacco are all guys not known for their IQ but use their arm strength and legs to be successful.

5. I have no idea on this. He seems to have a passion for the game and great leadership ability but the "posse" that surrounds him does worry me. Have to faith that Hurney has done his homework on him.
