Top two reason stupid people WANt us to draft Newton

It's called pandering to an audience. I was stoking the fire because the board is so engulfed in Cam debate.

But overall, my premise is that our fan base is "okay" with being "okay." I've went over this a million times before but, the point is - what is our biggest position of need? QB. Of the other needs on the team, they can be much easier addressed in FA than QB can, or later in the draft. Simply put, QB is the biggest risk-reward position we can draft. And it's worth taking that risk to get a huge reward if it does pan out.

I think Dalton could end up shocking everyone and perform the best in a shorter amount of time. But, again, Cam has the biggest upside.

Okay, I was just wondering why you would think people who spend a lot of time on this board wouldnt want our team to succeed. I dont agree with you about the fan base, look at the attendance numbers, they went down when we sucked. I agree, he is biggest risk/reward, he is #2 on my wish list, but I believe most who prefer other options see him more of a flop. When you choose #1 and that player is a bust, it sets your franchise back too far. That has nothing to do about being scared to succeed.

I got you.

But, I will say the "okay with being okay" thing is evident in the amount of people who were still satisfied with Fox or were coming up with reasons other than coaching and preparation for losing even when it was evident.

And also, I'd counter that just as drafting a bust at #1 can set your team back for years, so can drafting a mediocre role player who doesn't provide an immediate impact. For instance, a QB can theoretically win/lose a game with a single play, whereas a DT probably won't.

So I do see your point, but this is why I'm hoping to go QB. Thank you for your calm, intelligent, respectful discussion. It's rare here.
