For 2009 he has an additional bonus and cap hit of 3.7 million. The 3.7 million you can't do anything with and still keep him.

The 3.7 million bonus counts against the cap whether they cut him or not.

I want the team to keep him...if he restructures of course.

His poor play is partly due to his poor play, marshall and godfrey being out of position, and most glaringly our laid back defensive scheme.

Marshall will be an UFA after next season and his chances of walking away increase a lot if Lucas is extended. The FO has to think beyond 2009 with this group. Plus there are some decent CB's that can be had in the 2nd and 3rd round of the draft this year. Food for thought.

Actually he won't be a UFA...4 (06,07,08,09) years isn't enough accrued time. He should be RFA. Even guys who WOULD have been UFA with 5 years accrued by the 2010 season will be RFAs due to the uncapped year.
