Cam Newton’s less-than-perfect Pro Day raises another red flag

If Rivera likes or dislikes Cam it is not because of his combine or pro day workout. It has already been decided in film study. Interviews and background checks will add to that info.

One thing in Cam's favor with the Panthers is that Rivera does not want a rookie QB starting. He said he wants to give them time to learn the NFL game. Cam is not ready to be a starting QB in the NFL but that does not mean that given the right coaching and time he won't be great.

I am not sure if Cam is the guy, but I would not be surprised or upset if the Panthers pick him at #1.

If you are going to play to win you can't be afraid to lose.

You know who "rolls the dice" a lot?

The Raiders :(

I'm all for taking chances once in a while, but not what I'd consider foolish ones.

And sorry, but reaching for a quarterback who might be good rather than taking someone who's less of a risk and more likely to succeed is not my idea of a good "dice roll".

Trading down is still my top choice, but if we stay at number one, I want Dareus or Peterson.

And dozens of Panther's flags racing across the field when we score TDs from Cam Newton throws. ;)

Dear god

This is why I have such a goddamn hard time siding with you Newton nuthuggers.

F*ck the Luck nuthuggers weren't this fugging bad.

Every time someone, doesn't matter who or what they say, says ANYTHING negative about Newton you come running to hsi side aboout how he'll be the greatest thing ever in the NFL.

He's not perfect, he has a lot of red flags, but with that being said so does every other goddamn quaterback in this draft. It's not a lock we're getting him, if we get him, fine, if we don't that's fine.

But jegus stop acting like this person is God almighty.

I am certainly not hoping to be Raider-like  and don't see Rivera as a roll the dice type of guy. If the Panthers pick Cam, Hurney and Rivera will have done a very thorough evaluation. I don't think they will be put off by the fact that Cam will not be ready to start right away. I think Rivera will play to win...his strategy will be aggressive, not reckless. I am saying I am going to trust their process. I think that whoever they pick will be someone that they believe will be very good rather than someone they hope will be.

All the coaches, GM's, and scouts wanted to see, is if Cam has been taking the coaching and working to get better, and I think he answered that question with a resounding yes.

I'm sure they will keep testing him in those private workouts and interviews as well...and that goes for all the teams that are clearly interested in Cam and have scheduled private workouts.

Taking any quarterback in the draft is a roll of the dice. You do your due diligence to reduce the liklihood you will pick a dud and make the best choice you can with all the info you have. Hurney is somewhat of a gambler as evidenced by his trading future picks but overall he has been more right than right especially in the first round.

But then again taking a guy like Palmer in FA even if available would also be a risk. He has already said he has 80 million in the bank and would be fine retirng. He also has a history of injuries and is coming off a pretty poor year by his standards.

Fox also believed you don't take a Qb in the draft and we didn't for 9 years.

We also didn't have back to back winning seasons and never had the pick of the litter. If we fail to pull the trigger it will set back the franchise more than it will if we pick him and he takes a year or two to develop. Personally I don't think it will. I think he will be Vince Young version 2 without the head problems and better work ethic.

Sometimes failing to act is worse than acting aggressively and risking failing. There are literally thousands of companies who fall back because they fail to take action and change preferring to stay safe and work within the known. Most of them lose out to those with vision who are willing to take a chance. Just like we will lose out to Tampa for example who pulled the trigger on Freeman who surely is no better than Newton and they got their franchise guy.

Who the *** are you and if you think any of those things matter, may I direct you to the thread where we listed guys you've never even heard of that went undefeated, won the heisman, had post season awards, better stats than Cam and national championships.

These guys come along every year. What you see with Cam isn't his college stuff that's impressive, it's his physical ability. Colt Brennan has a better college resume than Cam and he did it for longer, why didn't he go #1?

Go play in traffic.

LOL U Mad?

I don't like when new people call me out when they've never been in a conversation with me before. I'm used to Teeray and Rico and Monstercat riding my dick but not some new kid.

That's like Chad Johnson calling out Anderson Silva. It won't end well for him.

Yes, I love me some me and I've stated it before. There honestly isn't much NOT to love. I'm really good looking, have a hot ass fiance, am relatively young, have a great job, great physique, unlimited future potential in my current industry and others, I get to do something I love everyday (pretty soon all day everyday), I'm educated, I have two great dogs, I have a great watch collection, an varied shoe collection, and I live in Southern California.

I promise your life sucks compared to mine ! :D

And I love Randy Moss quotes:

I love me some me

Straight Cash Homie (Hint: Change one of the words)

I don't post here to win friends. Its my opinion, nothing more. And it is every bit as valuable as yours. If I was debating with Marty Hurney, it might be different.

And as to the kid thing with the implication that I am some young punk in the basement, you could not be more off-base. I am 100 percent certain that I was a football fan before you were born.

Great so you are some old senile loser who barely knows how to work the internet and instead of living in their mother.s basement, you live in your child,s basement, either way gramps, your opinion doesn't matter to anyone one bit and you should probably stick to never posting again.

Ok, you win. Just one request...don't call me gramps again. If you can do that, then I promise not to make fun of your watch and shoe collection.:D
