I've read a few scouting reports on Luck

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/537970-2011-nfl-draft-andrew-luck-destined-to-be-no-1

quote:

cons-The biggest issue with Luck is that he has one of the weirdest throwing motions in college football because it is one part beautiful and one part hideous. And this is not about his occasional tendency to somewhat sidearm the ball—I actually don’t mind that.

Luck has an occasional wind-up in his throwing motion that causes him to drop the ball beneath his waist before he throws the ball.

Ezra Shaw/Getty Images His wind-up is so weird because unlike say, The Golden Calf of Bristol, Luck’s wind-up adds no momentum to the ball and is in many ways completely separate from his actual throwing motion.

Also unlike The Golden Calf of Bristol, Luck doesn’t always have a wind-up. It's like he winds the ball around and then brings the ball into a normal throwing motion and lets it fly. Luck has to learn to just cock the ball without throwing in a wind-up beforehand in all situations.

It must be said that there has been a noticeable decline in the rate of his wind-up in his throws from his red shirt freshman to red shirt sophomore year.

The total elimination of this wind-up will not affect his actual throwing motion in any way but dramatically speed up the delivery time from decision to release.

Luck also has a slight tendency to float balls when throwing 15-yard outs, digs and back shoulder fades. It’s not that Luck lacks the throwing motion to put the ball on more of a rope, but it’s that he is aiming it. If he does that in the pros more often than not, those balls will be batted down or worse intercepted.

You're right he's perfect, maybe he should take those "tools" and fix some of those problems

On Urban Dictionary, Tool is defined as...

One who lacks the mental capacity to know he is being used. A fool. A cretin. Characterized by low intelligence and/or self-steem.

Example Sentence: That tool dosen't even know she's just using him.

I don't want Cam and it has nothin to do with race. I'd gladly take McNabb and I actually wouldn't mind a late gamble on Tyrod Taylor.

I'm just banning people who turn this crap racist.

the thread is about race, what's with the power trip?

Oh please don't tell me we will win a SB with Clausen. If we somehow did it would be history.

Starting QB- with the lowest rating, the least amount of TD's, and the balls of blackberry all the way to Super Bowl Champ. I don't see it happening.

Who would have thought it would be possible to fail in back to back posts?

Not everyone is racist. However, everyone is stereotypical (whether you admit it or not). I myself am white. My stereotypes related to football are this:

- I don't believe in the #1 WR (or #2 WR for that manner) being white. White WR's to me are a joke (except in the slot). Why? I have no idea, just an opinion I've developed over the years watching football. I find that blacks are better athletically at the position. Is this true? In my own personal opinion it is, realistically no. But stats of success at the position favor blacks rather than whites.

- I don't believe in a white Running back. Hoover was great that one game he played. He destroyed defenses, so has other white runningbacks. 20th century white runningbacks where fairly successful, some hall of famers as well. But from my observations over the years, I find that a black running back is better than a white one. Is this a fact? No, just an opinion. But most running backs that have had success (especially in the 21st century) have all been black.

- I don't believe in a black QB. Would I root for Cam Newton? Hell yeah I would. Do I have a stereotypical opinion about black QB's? Yes I do. I relate a black QB with athleticism that has trouble being a pocket passer. Is this true? Absolutely not. You could give me some examples of successful black QB's that were great in the pocket. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm not aware of a successful black QB that was an elite pocket passer, that went on to enter the hall of fame. Cunningham was incredible, I love the guy, but he was a rushing QB, so is Vick. Despite Vick's character concerns I was actually hoping we brought him in a year or so ago, we didn't and he did incredible this year (of course Reid's system works for some and doesn't for others). To me Newton will take off and run to much instead of trying to make plays down field, his combine/pro day weren't as successful as some think. If he's black I don't care, but he needs to make all the throws, with accuracy, and successfully. If it's not there you can't just take off and run in the NFL, because Cam, those LB's run just as fast as you do and hit twice as hard. Sadly the reality of it is, and this is were my stereotype on black QB's is the strongest: Athletic QB's don't last long in the NFL.

Now that I have openly confessed my stereotype to both whites and blacks regarding the NFL, we can move on.

Wes Welker...

Peyton Hillis...

Steve McNair...

All guys you would miss out on by adhering to these stereotypes.

Since we need to be fair. Here's some more negative on boy wonder, andrew luck-

Negatives: There aren’t a lot of things wrong with Luck’s game, but there are some things that I noticed and had problems with when watching him. First, he doesn’t have the best pocket poise. Especially off of play action he tends to panic and start to scramble if his first or second read isn’t there, and he will throw off balance a lot in these situations. Whether it is off of his back foot or while he is scrambling (even across his body occasionally) he will throw passes without setting his feet which I don’t like to see. He needs to work on his pocket presence if possible. I don’t know if he has a problem feeling the pressure, but he just needs to learn to step up into the pocket and buy time by side-stepping the rush at times instead of pulling the ball down to scramble. He also needs to be coached to not throw off of his back foot as often as he does. He also doesn’t have very good arm strength. He has great zip on passes to about 20-25 yards, but when he tries to throw a deep ball he will often be encountered with underthrown passes that have a lot of air under them. That is something he needs to work on.

I doubt you would here this on a regular basis like Newton so I'd like to share

CarolinaCatBrigade, I agree completely with your post. Sure there are exceptions, but if we are looking at it from a 'safe pick' standpoint, we would not want to draft a white RB #1 overall. Black QB's have a higher bust rate than white QBs from what I observe. Do I know that for a fact? No, it's just an ignorant opinion. Just like White RB's have a higher percentage at busting than a black RB. Again, I don't have any real numbers.. but it seems accurate based on the amount of black QBs to white QBs in the league.
