The Cam Newton and Race Thread!

I think he is coachable. I am not sure he is going to be able to react in game situations correctly. I also think he learned his lessons from UF--he has been through Hell over that stuff. I was once 19. That is not an excuse, however, because I have crappy character. If you paid me $20 million guaranteed, I am buying a pontoon boat, a bug zapper, 10 high dollar hookers of various ethnicities, 20 cases of imported beer from St. Louis, and the next time you saw me I would be on the news and broke.

In fairness, nobody knows which QBs make it and which do not. At least Cam has a chance. Gabbert, Mallett, and Locker seem like busts to me.

It's coachable, The Golden Calf of Bristol made remarkable strides in fixing his funky throwing motion and wind up between his last game and his Pro Day.

I have said from the beginning that they both matter. You're the one who said that a workout in shorts means nothing. You said it when I was trying to explain to you that Cam's so-called "publicity stunt" workout for the media wouldn't hurt him....which it didn't, BTW.

Try again.

My view on workouts isn't that they're completely irrelevant. It's that they don't mean anywhere near as much as game tape does.

You grade guys based on game tape. You use workouts to differentiate between guys with similar grades, but bumping a guy up the ladder based on workouts is a bad idea.

(see: Mamula, Mike)

Now, can workouts raise red flags? Forget my opinion. Ask Coach Rivera what he thinks about that.

A bit off topic, but it is being reported on Cat Scratch Reader that Gabbert scored a 42 on his Wonderlic. Not a Gabbert fan, but congrats to him, as he is obviously a smart guy.

If you believe Don Banks, the Panthers don't care.

(of course, the rules about taking everything with a grain of salt this time of year still apply)
