Many people see Cam in particular as a high risk/reward player that many people feel won't go #1 because of those risks. Maybe Buffalo feels safe at #3 that they can get him because he's too risky for #1.

We show interest, they bite.

Just an example. Whether that is happening or not is another discussion but the fact you don't understand how it's possible is baffling.

If Buffalo wants Cam bad enough to trade up, then there is no way they can feel comfortable that the Panthers won't draft him, unless the Panthers say they won't draft him. This is ridiculous.

None of this even matters , because the Panthers are not "pretending" to be interested, and nobody is trading up to #1 anyway.

I hope I'm wrong and some team offers us the world to pick #1, but I just don't see it happening for Cam or any other player.

If you are basing that on years gone by, you are correct. But this year is going to be SO different. The rookie scale could change everything. Before, the #1 pick was a cap nightmare.

We may get offers, but I doubt there will be any offers that are worth it, regardless of how much interest we show in Cam Newton.

Anyway, if he's good enough for some team to trade half their draft for, then why is he not good enough to draft #1 in the first place?

I'd go so far as to say if a rookie wage scale is in place foe this draft it guarantees we trade out of the first pick.

I have bad news for you guys. I may be wrong, but if Cam generates enough buzz around him that teams are trying to trade up for him. We are probably going to take him.

I might be wrong. But I don't know if he has done enough to have teams begging for trades to get Cam. Remember you guys have reminded me over and over that Gabbert is rated higher than Cam. So if you are picking 3 and there is a Qb that is rated higher than Cam by a lot of people why would you trade for Cam if Gabbert will fall to you.

If you were a GM would you give up multiple picks to get Cam?? You guys don't even want to pick him with the number 1 pick at no extra cost!

If the panthers say, "we're taking Cam Newton" then maybe it's a smokescreen, or maybe we want him who knows. In the current scenario, we have the #1 and are doing due dillegence on everyone who might go #1. This is why hurney usually gets his high draft picks right, because they do their homework. If we decide we don't want him then whatever interest in generated is good for a possible trade. The reality is thought that ANYBODY drafting #1 overall would be doing the same thing we are about Cam Newton. It's called homework. I doubt the panthers know who they are picking yet. I'm sure they are keeping their options open

Yeah, but nobody is going ga-ga over Cam just because we talk him up. That's the thing about this smokescreen business that really irks me. If somebody likes him that much, it will have nothing to do with anything Rivera says or "leaks" to the press.

With Gabbert lurking behind this guy I don't see it happening. If you wouldn't pick him number one why would another team trade up. We had the worst offense in Panther history last year. If he is that good, we are taking him.

Team ratings vary, sometimes wildly.

It'd be no stretch whatsoever for another team to be way higher on him than we are.

8 of the top 10 teams in the draft order have legit QB needs. There, at this point, are only two QB's universally worth a top ten pick.

Numbers alone make it very possible, if not probable.
