Really??? Its not like he even pretends to run. It does help that Mallet is a pretty big guy so will be more of a Big Ben guy in the sense that he wont be dodging guys but might make them bounce off him. but again thats why teams have running backs to run those 40 yards

Brady also went in the 6th round, as the 199th pick overall in the 2000 draft. Brady also is one of those diamond in the rough style players that doesn't show what he has until he was put in a system with an amazing coach. Brady-style players don't come around all that often.

Now... if someone wants to say Mallet is one day going to be the next Brady... that's fine. But I could say that about any QB in the draft, and get pot-lucky correct.

But don't expect him to go in the first round of the draft, or expect we even have him on our radar.

Every QB in this draft is more than likely on our radar, including Mallett.

Or Marino. :)

He doesn't have Marino's quick release, and I have seen this kid fall apart in the pocket too many times. Gabbert is about the only QB in this draft who has anything close to a Marino-like release, IMO.

By all means though, if you can guarantee that his first read will always be open or that the pass rush won't be in his face by the time he goes to option #2 or 3 and that he will never have to move, then Mallett is your guy.

On the other hand, if you believe there will be times when your QB has to move around and buy time to make a throw, make a throw with people in his face or at his feet, or even (God forbid) have to run the ball (gasp!) then you better be looking at Newton or Gabbert.
