Not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling...

I think I'll be more annoyed with a year of returning & redundant Luck discussions rather than no football :banghead:

Who is to say, Luck won't pull a Eli and refuse to play for the Panthers. Dude passed up millions to stay in school when he could have finished school and been the #1 pick in the draft....that tells me he doesn't want to be a Panther...that's like passing on a million dollar lottery ticket and hoping you win it again next year.....Luck could get hurt or just bomb now that his coach is gone.....he really didnt want to play here.

There is no evidence he didn't want to play for us and abundant evidence his decision had nothing to do with us.

For Luck, it's not like winning the lottery. He's so good, scouts expect him to go #1 no matter what happens next year.

I don't know why people have such a hard time believing he enjoys life at Stanford...

if you already are very comfortable in terms of money, and have basically been assured that the money will wait for you for a year, then the decision becomes less about the money and more about other priorities. For him, getting a degree is a big one, and staying with his friends and teammates for another year to try to win the Pac 10. There's no evidence he made this choice to avoid the Panthers or Charlotte at all.

If he has a bad year(and he prob will) his stock will drop. The fact is luck does not love the game of football, he loves architecture. IMO there is a good chance that he goes to a bad team and decides he doesn't like Football and leaves.

He is still playing football either way. Why would that be the central issue? Maybe its about values and not about money. Maybe he wants to take advantage of his opportunity to get a degree at Stanford while he can, keep his word to his mom, and still make enough money to retire on. I find that easeir to beleive than he doesn't love football.

So did Peyton Manning love whatever degree he was getting and not football?

This may actually be very true. Not the leaving part, but as an architecture grad student myself I can totally see this making sense. Its our life 24/7...

I personally can see him pulling an Eddie George: Having a damn solid career then establishing his own firm post-NFL.
