With #1 pick in NFL draft Carolina Panthers select

So are you an NFL GM, Coach, Scout??? I am guessing no. Lets leave it up to the people who actually do that for a living to determine whether or not Cam can transition and be a successful QB in the NFL.

It does not take GM, Coach, or scout to tell if a guy can read defenses... Watch him on film, he's pretty bad at it. He has unique physical talent but that's about it. If his first read is not open he almost always runs. Watch all of his highlights videos and you'll see he never scans the field. He stairs his first read down and throws, if his first read is covered, he runs... He's not gonna run away from anyone in NFL. He's not a starting material in NFL. Don't be brain washed by the media...

To those who for whatever reason think a 5'9" 32 year old WR (I'm saying this as a big fan) can garner additional picks in the 2011 draft of VALUE are dreaming. Smith IMO is at best gonna bring in a 4th or 5th.

Santonio Holmes-5th

Randy Moss-4th

Both those guys have had better numbers the last few seasons, I'm not sure why people think Smith can bring us valuable pick/s. Best thing to do is ride out his contract and let him do whatever once it expires. We keep a receiver who still draws double coverage, opening up the middle for Shockey, and keeping the 8th defender out of the box.

Smith is not a just very good WR with drug issues (Holmes) or a ticking time bomb (Moss), but a fuging great WR and athletic freak with a great work ethic and no off the field problems who's been very patient and unselfish with a garbage team the past two years. That seems marketable to me, even at 32.

I'm torn on what should be done with Smith. I sort of want to see him play for someone good and stop wasting away his remaining prime with Carolina. But, as a fan, you always hold out hope things will turn around quickly.

So you obviously have access to tons of game film, highlights, watched Cam play and practice live, and do this for a living. Hurney, Rivera, etc and the rest of the NFL should just stop looking at Cam and considering if he can be a franchise QB. I am not the one brain washed by the media. I have an open mind that Cam can be a great QB and will let the people who actually evaluate talent and pick players for a living make the decision. Despite how some people think its just a smokescreen, I dont think it is and am glad they are finally look seriously at drafting a QB.

Think abou this... Jets were gonna pick Peyton Manning with #1 pick, Manning decided to stay in college to finish up his degree. Jets ended up using their #1 overall pick to select WR Keyshawn Johnson. Dejavu?

You should be banned for comparing Andrew Luck to Peyton Manning.

I watched Cam play in many games and he will not be a good NFL QB. He is a success of college system. Just wait and see.

Great - another fan hoping the Panthers crash and burn should they determine Cam can a be a franchise QB and draft him.

I love my Panthers and I will support em no matter what. But there is a fine line between reality and hope. I hope Newton does well if we draft him but in reality, he got a long way to go before he can be starting material in NFL. I highly doubt that Hurney will draft another project like Clausen...

If we gonna run 3-4 at times like Rivera said, we need a true NT. We can get a hell of a NT in 3rd round. We got 2 3rd round picks (one for peppers). Someone like Phil Taylor is perfect for revera system. Suh was a true #1 DT, Dareus comes no where near Suh talent.

I can agree with that but I would take Dareus over Green simply because the void of bodies(not even considering talent) is so large at DT it begins to infringe on the BPA strategy.

I would say I'm like this ranked in terms of prospects I'd like to see #1 most

Peterson/Dareus

Gabbert/Green/

Newton/Bowers

Quinn/Fairley

Miller
