Yas: Why the Carolina Panthers are relevant

Really - someone actually gives a poo that the perception of Johnny Average Fan Slapdick from Jersey or Sue Bob from Dallas doesn't think that the Panthers are 'relevant' matters in the grand scheme of things? Like, this is really something that Panther fans should be concerned about?

I was shocked to find, out here in Australia, an Australian guy that works in the same building as me that not only knew about the NFL in general and what was going on with the CBA and all, not only had a team himself (Packers, this was back in Nov/Dec I had this conversation too) but he asked me where I'm from, I said North Carolina, and he said "oh, so you like the Panthers?". True story.

I've met people from England, Ireland and South Africa while travelling abroad who knew who the Panthers were. Again, it's not me who is narrow minded, it's the people in Florida.

Yes, I have driven by the Dolphins stadium several times. I don't know the areas name but I know it's a little bit North of Miami just off a freeway that comes off of 75?

Who cares? I've never cared what fair weather fans think. It just makes the poo talking sweeter while we're winning.

Classic example was when we were in the playoffs on the way to Seattle for the NFCC game, the Panthers were getting ready to play Chicago....to me that was the most enjoyable week of my football life...all of the Mayberry and hillbilly/banjo references from the Bears camp....the Panther fans lit their board up ALL week and just left every Bear fan speechless on that cold Sunday night...not to mention it was a helluva game. :D

Accomplishments have nothing to do with relevance. The skins and cowgirls have a national following and always will. They are extremely relevant to the NFL. I dare say that most NFL fans wouldn't even know if the Panthers stopped having a team in the NFL, but if the skins or cowgirls closed up shop, the NFL world would be rocked.....

Again. The Panthers have been the better team the last 14 years, but that doesn't make them relevant to the rest of the league. Period.

You're talking about relevance as a subjective thing, I'm talking about relevance as an objective thing.

From a subjective standpoint, yes the Cowboys and Redskins are more relevant, but from an objective standpoint the Panthers are currently more relevant.

I'm talking about how the average NFL fan views the Carolina Panthers. They are irrelevant to the average fan. That's all. It's not a big deal. Who cares what some idiots in Dallas, Washington or Miami thinks?

Yup and that's a subjective measurement vs. an objective measurement of which team is more currently relevant.

I'm with you, I could give a damn about what Cowgirls and Deadskin fans think of us... they've got enough problems of their own they should be focused on.

I take great comfort in knowing that both the Cowgirls and the Deadskins are doomed to eternal failure each in their own unique way.
