Yas: Why the Carolina Panthers are relevant

I think it was more for taking up for us and the NFC South and calling out an ignorant fan.

Yeah I know but would an article have to written if it were Pittsburgh or even the Giants? Seems mosst folks have forgotten about us even though we went 12-4 as recently as 2008.

Other than the superbowl comment, the article was pretty much dead on as to how the outside world views the Panthers, whether its right or wrong.....I live in South FL and almost every team in the NFL is represented down here at the local NFL bars......trust me....people do not even know what state the Panthers play in and after Richardson and Mannings issue, the only thing most NFL fans think is that Richardson is an country bumpkin arse.....

That really is the perspective outside of the Carolinas.....jus sayin

Considering they are named the Carolina Panthers, most people there must be pretty stupid.

Seriously, I've never come across people in other states who don't know where the Panthers play. If somebody is a football fan and doesn't know where the teams play, that's a problem with the so called fan not the team.

Just shows how narrow minded you are.....most people really don't give a crap....almost half the people you talk to think they play in South Carolina.

So, just curious, do you know where the Dolphins play?

Miami Gardens. This is north of North Miami and is 18 miles from Fort Lauderdale airport and 18 miles from Miami International. It's west of both Fort Lauderdale and Miami. In other words, it's not in Miami and is actually just as close to Fort Lauderdale as Miami. What's my point? Well, I wouldn't call someone stupid for not knowing that irrelevant fact.

Most NFL fans have never and will never go to a Carolina Panthers game, so they are not stupid for not knowing that the stadium is in Charlotte.

One question I do have for you is do you believe the Panther's belong to Charlotte or the Carolinas? If you answer Charlotte, you are dead wrong, so being confused about the actual location of their games is an honest mistake and one that I believe Richardson is ok with. He wants the Carolina Panthers to be from Carolina, not Charlotte. Fan support from outside of Charlotte is greater than the support from within Charlotte and I guarantee that half the PSL owners live outside of Charlotte city limits.

Moving on.

I've met people from England, Ireland and South Africa while travelling abroad who knew who the Panthers were. Again, it's not me who is narrow minded, it's the people in Florida.

Yes, I have driven by the Dolphins stadium several times. I don't know the areas name but I know it's a little bit North of Miami just off a freeway that comes off of 75?

I have heard people talk about the Panthers like the caller Yas was speaking of and, from what I have witnessed, it's usually someone who has moved down here from a northern area who gets off on belittling the region and has no idea of what the Panthers have done in a 16 year span...they are only looking at 2-14 and just can't believe that there are other teams besides the Packers, Patriots, Steelers or Cowboys.
