Your proposal

The first wife got pregnant so we mutually agreed that marriage is what we both wanted anyway, lasted 10 yrs. The lovely lady I'm with now, we haven't wed yet and it's been 24 years that we've been together and I don't know that we will get married but if we ever do, I would take her to a nice restaurant then get down on one knee and propose to her.

I do agree that it should be something special you both will proudly remember, also most children are going to ask about the special moment and they will want to know their parents were really in love with each other when it happened.

We were at my girl's parents house for a pre Christmas Eve drinks/dessert and my family was there as well. We don't get together for Thanksgiving because there are too many houses to visit so we always do it before Christmas Eve and her mom makes everyone say what they are grateful for the prior year and what we hope to accomplish in the upcoming year.

It went around the table and I was second to last and I said the usual stuff like family, friends, health etc then said I was specifically grateful for her and hoped to be married to her in the upcoming year then whipped it out (the ring ;)) and proposed.

Everyone at the table was in tears, except for me, I'm basically emotionless. It worked pretty well but only because we are both very family oriented and I knew she wouldn't mind her family being there. If you aren't sure, do it alone.

omg I love this. I totally almost cried reading this!!

Considering I've asked the same girl out about 10-20 times within the past 2 and a half years (with basically the same answer every time), I have a feeling I wont need to worry about it anytime soon.

There are so many hot bitches running around UCNW, and I can't even get one. F*ck college.

Stop asking her out and move on. If there are so many "hot bitches" running around, why is she the only one you have made an effort to ask out. Its harder in college, you gotta weed through all the trash.

Our story involves a backstory pertaining to when I first told her I love you.

I proposed to her in the exact same place I first told her I love you and it was awesome.

When I have more time I'll tell you the whole story.

We didn't have much alone time as she has two kids, but I got to take her out to an early dinner one night. I planned to ask her at the table outdoors but the place got really crowded and it did not feel right, so I waited until we got back to the car. I put the top down, the sun was setting, and asked her and it all worked out OK. I apologized for not asking her at the table but the mood was not right and I really wanted to ask her then and now....

We went to Venice, Italy in December 2005. I wanted to propose on a gondola but it was like >30* outside. I had kept the ring ziptied to my pocket on the flight over the puddle, I really didnt want to lose it. We had been there a few hours and I went down to have a smoke and cut the ring loose. She knew something was coming, but didnt know what. I could hardly contain my nerves or excitement, but after a large glass of vino, I got the words out. That was the only time I will ever ask a woman that question... In hind sight, I should've braved the cold and done it on the gondola, even found a big lighted fountain our last night in Venice, but by then the deed was done...

we went to this incredible restaurant out on the west coast for dinner with her best friend for my birthday. So I made arrangements to ensure there was a birthday cake there for me...so when I blew out the candles and they asked me what my wish was, I did the whole one knee thing in the middle of the restaurant and asked her.

Our song from the moment we started dating was Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was on the radio on our first date and it just kind of stuck.

So he sang me that song, with his guitar, down on his knee, candles all around. He didn't sing the whole song, I only remember this part:

"And I'll do anything you ever

Dreamed to be complete

Little pieces of the nothing that fall

put your arms around me

What you feel is what you are

And what you are is beautiful

do you wanna get married?"

It was pretty awesome. I was surprised. I mean we'd talked about it a lot but I wasn't expecting it yet.

thanks...and ya...it was! I'm a little loud from time to time....seriously...and so when I went to get on my knee...I made sure everyone in the restaurant heard me and knew what was happening too...I was pretty confident in her answer! After she said said yes, there was a huge applause from a lot of rich mofo's dressed in way more expensive clothes that we had!!!!! We also got a free night's stay from the manager, which was pretty cool as this was typically not the level of hotel we would typically stay!!!

so cute :) my cousin's proposal to his longtime girlfriend was something like that. She is a sous chef and at the time she was living in Colorado and he was in LA. So, my cousin flew out his parents and her parents and made reservations to go eat at the restaurant where she worked.

They ate and then after the meal, they asked if they could speak with the chef. She came out all sweaty from the kitchen and working all night. He got down on one knee in front of the entire restaurant and proposed to her. Same thing with the owner, they got comped champagne and all that jazz.

So cute, I would have been bawling like a baby if I was there.
