So a CB hasn't been drafted first overall, fine...

You know, you could have just given your opinion on Patrick Peterson and left the Cam thing alone, but you're just as guilty as anybody else of keeping this going.

It ruins a lot of threads, just keep it in one of the 1,000 designated for Cam, that's all.

If you're gonna select a CB at #1, then he damn well better be as good as Revis.

And if you select a DT does he have to be as good as Suh? DE as good as Peppers? A QB as good as Payton? A WR as good as AJ? A LB as good as Beason. Sorry, there aren't any players in this draft that good, so saying if you pick a player at #1 overall has to be ass good as the best player at the position immediately, well you're gonna get let down no matter who you are pushing for.

Gerard Warren is still in the NFL, he started 10 games for the Patriots this past season.

Doesn't justify drafting a DT #1...but if he had been drafted in the 4th round it would have been considered a steal. Just saying that high DT draft picks, really until the '10 draft, were kind of reaching at the top.

Especially when next years stock appears more talented.

This has been said several times since Luck stayed in school.

I'm gonna throw this out there....

You can NOT judge a draft class a whole year out.

People get hurt, their weaknesses get exposed, they flounder with a change of receivers or coaches....

:nonod:

We need to focus on what we can do NOW in the Draft and Free Agency.

The Panthers picked up Shockey... a surprise for sure, and it may or may not workout... but it's damn sure a step in the right direction over how we haven't been bringing in veterans for the past couple years.

If this is Rivera's doing, in prodding Hurney to make a move for vet talent, then he is already a head above Fox.

Again, I'm not against bringing in a GOOD veteran (like Palmer).

Yeah but I think you are forgetting that DT is the safe pick :hand:

I disagree...I think PP is not only the best at his position but is the safest pick on the board.I think Darius would be a good pick as well.He is the best all round cb I have seen in a long time.

The rationale for why a corner has never been taken first in the draft is that they can be too easily schemed around and taken out of the game. If you overload the corner's side with an over and under route and send a running back in the flat, he can't cover everybody.

A DT is involved on every play and while you can double him, you are having to game plan for him all day. A corner isn't even involved on plays to the opposite side of the field.

While this statement is true, I must ask you this: if PrimeTime was a rookie coming out this year, with the number one pick, would you still pick Nick Fairley???

and that's a shame. it would really suck to strike out on two qb's in consecutive years, that would be more a shame. Especially when next years stock appears more talented.

Even without Andrew Luck next years QB class is a lot more talented.

I know some of the Newton fans think that none of us "haters" want to take a QB because we're still holding out hope for Luck, but that's not the case(for me at least). If we don't end up with the #1 pick next season(odds are we won't) we'll still be able to get a better QB than any in this draft.
