In defense of the owners

Trickle down economics is a joke. That mentality has led us to a ridiculous disparity between the wealthiest and the poor in our country.

I completely agree..

I've never seen so many "have nots" defend the "haves" desire to be first in line to get even more

people yell about how great this nation is.. meanwhile we are cutting teachers jobs and simultaneous defending people getting bonuses who work for companies that had to get bailed out with tax payer money

The US is ranked 18th out of 36 nations in education (http://askville.amazon.com/United-States-rank-education-industrialized-nations/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=21721726), we import much more than we export... Sooner or later the guy coming in 18th place thats keeps shouting we're #1 starts to look foolish

the players should get every penny they can

Depends on how you define education and how those stats are accrued. There are tons of stats on how education and medical practice are ranked throughout the world, but the WHO and other institutes are not exactly forthcoming with their raw data.

On that note... any idea on how much the US spends on libraries compared to the rest of the world? Care to see how much of them are supported by evil rich people?

Would you like to know?

How do these people live?

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6177574

Take back our league!!!

I dont get it, what's your point?? Why do these players deserve more money? If it wasnt for the owners capital and assets there wouldnt be an NFL. And if it wasnt for the NFL these goons would be working for 12$ and hour or be in prison, this whole thing is just ridiculous. It is legal to make money, I think some people forget that, all these players are just doing what lawyers and agents tell them to, greedy fugers cant be happy with 2 million a year and benefits for life? its a joke

Why do people try to achieve fairness? There is no fairness in this world. If there was was, our Panthers wouldn't suck so often!

This country used to admire rich people and hope to be one someday- not extort money from them because it's not fair!

Aww shucks, wish I coulda been smart n intelugant enuf to invent a chiken bizcut. Whewie wish I had a twoundred foot yot. I admaire JR and his mony, wowie wut a man!

Hey wait. Why can't we just admire the labor unions and hope to be in one someday?

That can be true but I don't get what their possessions have to do with this. Are we supposed to be mad at them for having nice things? Do their large mansions make them devious or is it their character?

Not at all. I'm a libertarian capitalist and think that greed is good. or can be.

I'm just saying there are those who would say to the players 'you make all that money, you should take what ever the boss offers you.' Whereas in my opinion the owners are generally loaded, the nfl is making money hand over foot, and the owners are basically lying about it.

I know the article tries to make rich people evil, but I like rich.

The players were happy with the deal they had, they aren't the ones opting out. They are being to told to play more and make less and are fighting it like anyone would.

    • down 24 and we get our first possession in the 3rd and what happens?  run TE checkdown TE checkdown run run run RB checkdown TE checkdown run TE checkdown incomplete TE checkdown run now on the 4 yard line- Renfrow TD and POOF!  3rd quarter is over.  That's not a team even trying to get back into the game in reality.  That's just the Panthers taking freebies to make it look respectable in the end and guess what? Bryce gets to pad on 6/7 to his stat line in exchange for making the 3rd quarter disappear.  Not sure the hyper focus on the depth of the corners.  Cardinals were going to simply drop and allow the easy stuff underneath.  Which they did.  The Cards strategy was fine on D.  You just don't generally see teams implement it as early as they did but they were up pretty big.  It's the other units for the Cards that fugged the plan up.  again, it's 3 drives,  the ONE in the 3rd quarter and only drive of the entire quarter and the 2 to open the 4th.  Cardinals gave Bryce stuff in exchange for clock  (and the result was slow long drives eating the clock).  The rest of the game? They didn't.  The rest of the game outside of those 3 drives the Cards weren't in garbage allowance mode and Bryce stunk
    • But a serious question is, does he not see a guy come open because he misses seeing them on the field, which happens to every QB, or, is his vision blocked by the wide bodies in front of him instead of the helmets other QBs experience? For instance missing a wide open Chuba. Did he not see him or could he literally not see him? I tend to think the latter is a far bigger problem than we're being led to believe it is.
    • Agree he needs to clean up the costly turnovers. My opinion is that he's pretty good other than that. But that's kind of a big deal, so absolutely needs to minimize that stuff or he can't succeed. I don't beat up a QB because he occasionally doesn't see a guy come open. Every QB does that - occasionally.
