I don't see Smith or Shockey causing much of anything with Rivera in charge. Maybe it's the Mexican cartel vibe I get from him, but I think he brings a lot of respect and discipline with him. Something I think Fox lost a few years back.

I also love how people act like we'd NEVER bring in someone like Shockey. We only went after a player who kneed a guy in the balls(brayton), kept a guy who has punched 2 teammates, brought in one of the biggest mouths ever (keyshawn), but yet act like getting Shockey breaks some law that says we can't sign anyone with an attitude.

I was reading on the saints board (yes I washed my hands) how they think that Shockey will start acting up because we don't a "Brees" type leader on the team...guess they forgot about this guy

I think his comment was more about the fact that we don't have a Brees type QB to consistently get him the ball.

Diva receivers usually only act up when they feel they are not getting the ball enough.

Chud has one of his boys back from his Miami juggernaut offense...I think Shockey will fit fine with our new offense. Next years team is gonna look a lot different. Maybe Shockey will finish his career with the guy who helped catapult it as we find a UDFA TE to develop into a stud.

Carolina fans. Dont believe the hype from the media. Shockey is a good guy and a super great teammate that will be missed dearly by us Saints. Yes, his production has declined, and he does get injured a lot. But he gets injured because he gives 100 percent every time he is on the field. He could be a great security blanket for a QB, especially if you guys get somebody like Gabbert at QB. He doesn't have the speed anymore, but he can still get open, and he still can catch the ball wherever, and he is still a very dangerous redzone threat. The media doesn't like him because he does not like the media, and usually avoids playing any kind of games with them. But countless people who have dealt wish Shockey will tell you he is a great guy, from helping out charities, signing autographs, being friendly with fans in the public, he is a good guy. So embrace him. If he starts to feel attacked that's when the bad Shockey comes out, and thats what happened in NY. You would be surprised by the great leadership he provide players like Reggie Bush, and he basically schools the rookie TE Jimmy Graham so he could take his job!! He's a great teammate and with a team that is really young, he will be valuable as a leader. Is 30 years old, he's grown out of that "throw me the damn ball" stage.
