Former Eagles receiver Freddie Mitchell, a 2001 first-round pick whose career flamed out a few years back, could be spending a few years in prison.

He’s reportedly under investigation for accepting a package allegedly containing more than seven pounds of marijuana.

Mitchell reportedly was cuffed briefly but not arrested after signing for the package last week at his Lakeland, Florida restaurant.

There was a time when it was being reported we had worked him out and were eager to sign him in part due to his cousin, Rod Smart.

The whole report was fake. I forget if it was his agent or Rod who was spreading it. I think it was his agent.
