Apart from R.E.M and Korn, that is a hell of a list. My FAVORITE from the 90s is AiC, by a slim margin over Tool.

Speaking of ground breaking,

Korn's first album was just that. 7 string guitars, 6 string bass, bagpipes thrown in and played by Davis. Silveria's syncopated fills/double bass. Agressive vocals with a soft side.

All of the above ground breaking ideas are common place today.

That's the problem with music, there are only so many notes on the scale and eventually you end up writing the same songs that have already been written.

There is no right answer, it's all opinion... hell I voted for "other" ie AiC, but it's so close between them, Nirvana and STP that I don't care...

It's a matter of opinion. All I know is the 90s produced some kick ass music that I love.

Well in that case it's TOOL all the way for me. Undertow and Aenema are masterpieces.
