Office Debate: Best Band of the 90s....

I agree they changed music and brought rock back from the dead after Guns N Roses and all the hair bands killed it.

This has to be one of the worst statements I have ever heard and the fact that you actually group Guns N Roses in with the hair metal bands is ridiculous. GNR is the band that saved rock music, not Nirvana.

As for 90's, I'd have to go with Alice in Chains followed by Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, STP and Bush.

I voted Pearl Jam. They were great then, and continued to change their sound and away from complete grunge. I think their latest albums are still awesome.

Foo Fighters IMO are better than Nirvana and I think they'll last the test of time way better too. Grohl was the most skilled musician in that band. Sorry.

STP was great too. Purple, IMO, is still one the top 10 best albums I've heard from song 1 to finish.

I know where's talking about bands, but you have to mention 2Pac. I don't listen to him much, but he's the best rap artist IMO and a lot of people that just hate rap can still give props to 2Pac.

Marilyn Manson has to be mentioned also. Past the gimmick he had some good songs. Not sure he'll last though, I can't remember the last time I wanted to listen to him.

Pantera also has to be mentioned. Probably the best metal band of the 90's, IMO.

I jumped in the conversation a little late to bring that up but I agree. GnR built the coffin for hair metal; the grunge bands just closed the lid.

I was kinda drunk during the 90's don't remember a lot of the music.. but I could tell all about the 60's and 70's music. Didn't like much of the 80's though some was good from what I do remember from bar & club music.
