The worst thing that happened this offseason

Panthro

Recommended Posts

Luck staying in school, as far as I'm concerned was him giving a big middle finger to the Panthers. "I'd rather risk losing $40 million by slipping a few picks than play for the Carolina Panthers." That stings.

Exactly. I also liked Andrew Luck as a prospect, but he showed his true colors when he did that.

Yet, the other blind Andrew-lites still think he's a Jesus reincarnate.

If it only depends on how the panthers have him rated the pn why are you using john clayton as a source?

Used his opinion. I didn't use him as a source. It was in the same way that the original OP used Mel Kiper's opinion.

And from day one I have said "If the Panthers think he can be the guy they should take him.

It is my opinion that he can be "the guy" and I reference other knowledgeable people who share that opinion.

Just like the other side who doesn't think he will be a franchise guy uses knowledgeable people to reinforce their opinions.

And my whole point really was that there are differing opinions about who the best QB in this class is by different knowledgeable people so in the end it only really matters what the Panthers think.

Doesn't mean I can't and won't advocate for the guy I think we should pick.

No draft pick is a sure thing. Even Luck. I hate to bring up old stuff, but remember it was almost a toss up between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. A toss up between Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers. Jamarcus Russell would finally give Al Davis the vertical passing game the raiders have wanted. You never know. Who knows how Luck responds going into next season as a sure fire number one can't miss prospect? He might end up playing like Locker. What if it was all Harbaugh and Luck struggles to play well without him.

**Also never wish a career ending injury on anybody. Thats bad JuJu. Stuff like that bites you in the ass.

Not apt comparisons.

Manning/Leaf and Smith/Rodgers, as you said were toss-ups. No one here thought there was a toss-up between Luck and the rest of the bunch, it was all Luck. And Russell, no one thought he was a once in a generation type player. He was the best in the draft, but I don't recall anyone comparing him to any of the all-time greats.

But this isn't even a toss-up. This was the (supposed) franchise-changer we lost out on. It's not like there was another guy near the top who we could ****** up that would be a good consolation prize. What we are left with is a bunch of players who can't even get overall positive reviews from the scouts. We're left with guys getting reviews like, "He's still a good pick, despite _______, he'd be a better pick if _______, his game tape is horrible but at the combine he really impressed in _______." Those are our choices!!! I've heard more reasons why the other players in the "Top 5" shouldn't be taken at the #1 spot than good suggestions as to who we can take.

We had to suffer through a miserable, agonizing, flaming shiz-fug of a season, and our best hope in the draft is to TRADE DOWN!!! And that's only if we can find a sucker dumb enough to trade #1 from us.

I stand by it. I hope Luck's femur snaps like a chicken bone.

Luck staying in school was really shitty. I had my playoff fantasy draft that day and everybody kept giving me poo all day.

The probable lockout is gonna suck too.

All of it will be remedied with a solid draft in April though, followed by contracts or contract extensions to CJ, Kalil, Deangelo and Beason.

The bolded portion of that post is something that a lot of Huddlers don't realize: they allow themselves to make assumptions about the reasoning of others'.

Luck has no need to get out there and make the big bucks, his father is the AD for WVU. He's not looking to get his family out of a bad neighborhood or high-tail it to the NFL for the money and glory because maybe, just maybe he neither needs nor wants it.

Luck was very clear that Peyton Manning telling him to enjoy the college experience (and I agree with this myself) influenced his decision, which he was already leaning towards from the way I had interpreted the situation as it was occurring.

It's easy to panic and think about what happened to Jake Locker, but doesn't that mean if the same happens with Andrew Luck then that actually worked in favor of the Panthers?

I hate Luck with every fiber of my being, and sincerely hope he has a career ending injury this year at Stanford. (And FYI, I don't even wish that on Tom Brady, who is my most despised player in the NFL)

That's a little harsh, man. He just wants to finish his degree. We might even grab him next year, so why want him injured when he's still a potential panther?

But I honestly think that Luck staying in school isn't all bad. At least this way, there is debate on who we pick in the draft and that there are meaningful posts of people trying to prove their points. Keeps it exciting around here. Personally, I think that with out a Luck in the draft, PP7 is our guy. You can't pass up someone who is just a freak at such a quality position in the NFL. Shutdown corners are as rare as franchise QBs. :hat:

this is our best offseason ever. a real chance to get a grade a qb that wins games and gets your message board views and hits. luck did us a huge favor. we owe him and oliver. long live camhuddle.com

So what happens when this savior whereever he may go, ends up with a career similar to Ryan Leaf? What will you say then? You've said all along how great he is and yet have never once mentioned what you'd do if he doesn't pan out to the best player of his generation?

I think they are more rare by a long shot. The only true Shutdown corners in this league are Revis and Nnamdi. Franchise QB's Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and you could argue BigBen with his two titles even though he is not as good a passer.

Very true, but I thought that if I went as far as saying that they are more rare, I might get flamed around here. lol

He would blame the evil white owner of the team that drafted him....because you know it was "The Man's" fault that Cam sucked.

Dont worry about getting flamed. Some think Cam is the Football Messiah. The only flamer around here is the resident jock sniffer, Jase :) (I'm kidding, Jase is cool). Sorry, Southcak Otah's jock is just too nasty!
